Work was good today. I had one of those Mother energy drinks at about 9:30am and I didn't feel tired all day! It was awesome. The day also went really quickly which is good considering it was a 9.5 hour shift!
Had 2 problem customers out of a few hundred.
Why do these 2 customers have to be the biggest cunts in the whole world?
Customer 1:
He's an asshole in general.
A few weeks ago he asked me what I would do if I won lotto. I said I wouldn't really know where to start. Then he said he would probably go on a holiday. So I said "Yeah a holiday is always good." To that he says "You're only saying that because you have to." That comment made no sense to me as 1) why would I have to say such a thing and 2) why would I say anything that i didn't want to say. My old boss used to tell me that I don't have to fake anything about the way I'm feeling e.g I don't have to pretend I'm happy if I'm not and I don't have to say anything for the sake of just saying something. I've always stuck by that. The comment that he made to me felt degrading, as he was basically saying that the only reason I talk to customers is because I'm being paid to do so.
The guy things he is the best thing ever.
Today he comes through my checkout, and puts his things up towards the end of the conveyer belt. Nobody else has their stuff on the conveyer, and I'm finishing up a customers transaction. He starts singing some stupid song. He stands there leaning over his basket of stuff and says "I want you to move the conveyer so I can move along with it." And I just thought to myself 'is this guy 2 years old or something?'. So I ignore him and start scannning his stuff. At this point a couple of elderly people want to get through to leave the shop. There is plenty of room for them to get through and they say "excuse me" as they pass. Then the guy starts mouthing off about how rude they are and "what is with people these days they have no respect, the world is going down the shitter etc etc". And he's going on about them wanting to pass for at least a minute. By this time I've put 2 of the 4 things he bought into a bag. The other two things are easily carried and too heavy for a bag anyway (big pack of dog biscuits and a bit tub of dog meat). So he pays and then he goes "Aren't you going to put these in a bag for me". So I said to him "Yeah I'll put them in a bag for you if you want" and he yells "NO I'M GOING TO DO IT MYSELF". At that point I just thought wtf and started serving the next customer, while he took about 5 minutes to move along and leave the store.
This guy really pisses me off, and I wanna tell him where to go.
Customer 2:
She buys some Milo and it scans up as $7.47. She says to me "By the way, that Milo is $5.99." I know this is silly, but it was a 20% free Milo and often it's just the regular tins of Milo that are on special (which is dumb cos the 20% is meant to be free but that's just the way it goes for some reason). So I tell her this and she says "The tag said $5.99". So I ask my superviser and she says "Yeah put it through at $5.99". So I cancelled the $7.47 and put it through at $5.99. Then when the transaction was finished I showed her where it had been cancelled on the docket (cos people tend to be stupid and not understand then come back and complain even though they haven't been charged for it). I also showed her she had only been charged $5.99 for it. Then she says "Shouldn't I have gotten it for free if it scanned up at the wrong price?". I told her I'd have to check with my supervisor. Then she gets shitty at me and says it's the scanning code of practise and that I should know it. I said to her "I think we do follow it, but i'll have to check". Then she just gets her things and walks off. So I call my supervisor and ask her and she says if the customer asks about it they do get their money back. So I point out the lady who has just left the store and my supervisor takes the $6 to give her the money back.
What happened was, someone had left the OLD price tag on the shelf. My supervisor had removed it just after the lady had picked up the Milo. Therefore techinically it is our fault. However, it's not my fault and why should she get shitty at me when I have no control over the price something scans up at. I tried to do the right thing by checking with my supervisor but still I end up getting shat on by some moody lady.
That's all.
