Umm..no? I just choose not to associate myself with people who are going to trash talk a certain sexual preference or race. How is that being close-minded?
Maybe because you were... not? *gasp* LJ People are so rude! Oh, and close-minded! OMFG!!!11one! They are bad. Go write a song about it, see if it gets you a life.
What does closed-minded mean? It means when people do not take another's opinions into consideration and choose to ignore a certain group of people that are the same race, same sexual preference, or have the same ideals.
What was Mandy doing? She was trying to tell a certain group of people with a certain set of opinions to keep out of her journal. Even if Mandy is the "righter" of the two, this is still closed-mindedness.
Just because one believes strongly in one's opinions, and takes them as the truth, does not give one the right to completely deny someone of a certain philosophical persuasion the chance of expressing their opinions to onesself, no matter how sure you are that they are wrong.
If I don't agree with the thought of homosexuality, then I'm close-minded. If I don't agree with those who don't agree with homosexuality, I'm still close-minded. Honestly, how do I win?
Just because I don't want racists or homophobes hanging around in my journal doesn't mean I don't tolerate them. My uncle is the biggest racist I've ever met, does that mean I shut him out of my life or love him any less? No, I do tolerate it. But on something like an online journal, I have the choice on who I associate myself with, and maybe I'd rather not have to deal with it here, too.
See. I never figured you'd have the guts to answer, but hey, life is full of suprises. First of all, Mandy isn't the leader of a new Nazi Revolution. She doesn't want to exterminate homophobes or send racists catapulted into a pool full of shit. There's your epiphany. If she's close-minded, then so am I, and we all live in a Yellow Submarine. How's that for a tabloid?!
Then again, this is her place. Her journal. I'm actually feeling a tad rude towards her, because you know, I owe her respect. Hello? I'm having a discussion with a total stranger in her journal. You lost your right to be heard as a person when you left a stupid comment on her journal, not even considering the fact that an anonymous comment to some of us LJ users means nothing. The least you could do was leave a name. I dunno, 'Fluffy' even works
( ... )
now, don't you think that's being a little bit closed-minded?

Damn, and I though I was perfect. *rolls eyes*
Whatever. I really can't stand LJ drama, especially when it's with an anonymous poster. So, I'm done.
Thanks for stopping by!
