Being a worker at the call center, which seems to pretend that it is a marketing firm, makes me wonder what a person's identity is. It is a weird place because the owner, this lady Judith, acts like she is this master of marketing, but her call center only gets jobs to do public works projects. So, we do surveys about airports, buses, and freeway express lanes over and over. But. she acts like we are in marketing and product placement. Also, we call people to do surveys that hang up on us or yell at us over and over. You really only have about five seconds, or maybe three, to do any sort of sales pitch. Some of the people that work there act like they are in marketing and it really rubs me the wrong way. There is this obese Republican super pro business lady Gerri that acts like she is super saleswoman, but she has been stuck at the dumb call center for like six years. She is the one that gets the most done and she is really incredible at getting people to do surveys over the phone, but then she tries to tell everyone how good she is and it falls flat mostly because she's been stuck at the call center for so long and she is obese and her little cubicle has like half a dozen types of food in it. I pretty much hate her. She reads all these books about business and has said she loves Grover Norquist. I'm unhappy that I wrote about her in my journal at all.
