Fairytale has been nominated at Lie To Me Awards. I'd like to thank whoever nominated it very much.

So more Fairytale. If you've been following it I hope you read and enjoy BUT PLEASE DON'T COMMENT BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TIME TO REPLY RIGHT NOW. And Part fourteen has undergone a rewrite so it might be best to read it again.

Part Fourteen Re-written

Part Fifteen

Tearing himself away from the sight of the sad pile of malformed bones, Will followed Doyle further along the passageway.

Both men stopped dead when they heard a growling sound accompanied by what sounded like fabric being ripped apart. They looked fearfully at each other in the gloom, needing to continue their search but reluctant just the same.

As they approached the last cell the growling came again and Will knew they had found Liam; or the creature that had once been Liam. His heart thudded painfully in his chest as he struggled to draw his next breath; and his next and all the others his body needed.

“For the love of…” he heard Doyle whisper in the gloom as he stood outside the last cell.

When Will looked inside he understood Doyle’s horror.

A pile of shredded clothing lay scattered around and the beast in the cell was now naked.

Will had a brief flashback to the day he had first seen the young Liam, gloriously naked and achingly hard as he’d stretched his lithe body on a rock and fisted himself to orgasm as Will had watched.

This creature was as far removed from that beautiful youth as it was possible to get and Will wept silently for his loss.

Another growl reverberated in the beast’s chest as he seemed to sense he was being watched. The malformed head with the horny protuberances turned to look in their direction and they almost held their breaths as the eyes, glowing red in the gloom, looked right at them. It cocked its head curiously and whimpered pitifully.

What happened next almost had Will fainting.

“Please. Kill me.” The voice was harsh, strained, as though the creature’s vocal cords were becoming ineffectual; which was exactly what was happening. The creature was, indeed, sloughing the last shreds of humanity, and soon it would be unable to form articulate words.

It knew on an instinctive level that it wasn’t meant to be this way and the only thought that filled its head was that it wanted to die. It struggled desperately to tell this information to someone who cared enough about whom it once was to put an end to its misery.

Doyle and Will listened to this, aghast. The changes wrought in Liam were truly terrifying and the beast that he had become was forced to cower in a dungeon, needing the darkness to conceal his metamorphosis. Even in the dimness of the cell the watching men could see that the skin of his face had become coarse and leathery and taken on a greenish hue, while the horny protuberances they had observed growing out of his forehead, his cheeks and his chin as he’d been taken from Karos had grown. His eyes shone blood red in the dimness of the cell, and huge gleaming fangs now filled his mouth.

Doyle felt a great tide of pity well up in him for the man who was both his kin and his friend, but Liam was asking him to kill him and he could not bring himself to even contemplate such an act. He shook his head vehemently. “No, Liam. I cannot do that. I’m sorry.”

The creature that had once been Liam made a mewling sound in its throat; it was a sound of despair. “Please, I beg you.” The effort to form articulate sounds was enormous and the words came out slurred and raspy. “I cannot live like this.”

“There must be some way to change you back, Liam.” Doyle insisted. “I will not kill you until I have tried everything.”

“Will?”

Will fought back his tears. How could he kill his beloved? But how could he let him live like this? He didn’t want his beautiful Liam to suffer and to go on suffering this way, but kill him? Before every avenue to save him had been explored?

Neither man could do this. The changes wrought in Will’s lover and Doyle’s kinsman and friend were truly terrifying. Liam, or the beast that he had become, was like something from their darkest nightmares yet both of them were conscious that, whatever the outward appearance, Liam still remained, locked in that terribly malformed body.

Though neither man wanted to look upon Liam and what he had become neither could bring themselves to look away. Liam’s transformation was truly terrible, even in the flickering torchlight.

Will’s hands gripped the bars of the cell, his heart feeling like it might break and his soul in torment.

“We’ll save you, Liam. On my life I swear that we will save you.”

The beast whimpered once more, lowering its terrible head in defeat and hopelessness.
