The first step in enjoying the last summer vacation of my life had to be something good. Something big, something grand even. Like, visiting mom for a few days.
Thirty two hours it took to get here. I left on Tuesday. I arrived on Thursday. Sweet happy day, that's a lot of flying. Lot. Of. Flying.
But I made it. Made it to Perth. Land of the warm pleasant weather and people driving on the wrong side of the road. Sweet. Mom picked me up at baggage claim, we hopped into her minuscule two-door Rav4 and took off to one of the 6.8 billion parks there are in this city. Seriously, open a map and it looks like a three-year-old went wild with a can of green paint. This one we went to was a pretty big one overlooking the Swan River, had lots of fake streams, cool trees, a treetop walk, and cockatoos. Behold!
Swan River
Galah in a Boab tree (like a small Madagascar Baobab, native to Australia)
After this, we went back to the house where I took a very much needed shower, and sampled some of the local cuisine. Such as these BBQ Ribs flavored potato chips. You can get 'em anywhere. The Sweet Chile flavor is even better, despite how much I desperately love BBQ ribs.
BBQ Ribs. In your chips? It's more likely than you think. Nom.
After this, we went to a local mall where I oogled the surprising lack of hawtness in general (but figured I was easily a match for any bloke there) and had some pistachio gelato. Magic. Mmmm mmm mmm. Went home, and I went to bed.
For day 2 though, tune in later. Because the folks need this computer to look up a recipe for the kangaroo steaks we're having tonight.
