Things to do Before I Die
Despite popular belief, I actually didn't give up livejournal for lent. I have, however, been spending all of my internet time lately looking for a job. And I have been trying to spend my free time enjoying my last few months of living in a national park (weather permitting).
On a recent night, I wrote this list....well, actually I expanded on a list I wrote in college. It's still a work in progress, and probably will be my whole life. The three in red are things from my original list that I have done already.
Things to do Before I Die
1. Live in NYC
2. see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade live
3. backpack around Europe
4. swim in the oceans off of Greece
5. learn how to cook authentic Italian food
6. adopt a child
7. write a memoir
8. learn how to swing dance
9. play my saxophone in a jazz band again
10. visit all of America’s 391 national parks
11. go on a safari in Africa
12. go on a mission trip to India
13. learn to speak Spanish fluently
14. take my little sister to Disney World
15. read the entire Bible, with commentaries
16. go on a Habitat for Humanity trip
17. fall in love
18. see a musical on Broadway
19. go to the Rainbow Room in NYC
20. sit behind the plate at a Reds world series game
21. go to a Reds opening day game
22. learn how to be a photographer
23. participate in a protest for something I really believe in
24. spoil my grandkids
25. spontaneously get on a plane, fly somewhere, spend the day there and then fly back home
26. visit the Galapagos islands
27. make friends with a member or former member of the Mafia
28. be a mother
29. be a wife
30. get my Masters degree
31. get a library card for the Library of Congress
32. join MENSA
33. be on Jeopardy
34. knit or crochet a blanket
35. kiss someone in the rain
36. watch every James Bond film back to back
37. bury a time capsule
38. go skinny dipping
39. sleep outdoors, under the stars
40. stay up all night and watch the sunrise
41. build a piece of furniture by hand
42. finish a Friday NY Times crossword puzzle
43. watch a space shuttle launch
44. win money at a casino
45. learn to ski
46. walk down Abbey road
47. drive a zamboni
48. read every book on my list
49. see the northern lights
50. see lake erie
51. learn self defense
52. kiss a total stranger
53. go on a real camping trip
54. learn how to fix cars
55. get a room full of people at a bar or restaurant to participate in a game of “who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?”
56. start a trend
57. plant & tend to a garden (and eat the food from it)
58. make an entire meal completely from scratch
59. meet Bono
60. be in two places at once
61. plant a tree
62. learn to drive a stick shift
63. own a hammock
64. own a bonsai tree
65. be able to identify trees & flowers
66. be able to identify birds by their call
