Here's a little song I wrote, you might want to sing it note for note
I didn't get the job I talked about a couple of entries ago - I had suspected that I'd royally fucked up the interview, and they pretty much confirmed this for me in more professional terms, after I asked them where I had gone wrong. Oh well, back to ye olde drawing board I guess!
The last week and a half has pretty much been all about ComFest - I'm now on track to see 16-17 shows all up, whereas at the beginning of the Festival I'd only had a handful in mind.
FRIDAY 13TH
* Work - boring but at least the boss wasn't in
* Job interview - as mentioned above, completely rooted it
* Saw Richard McKenzie's show, which was alright
* Went home and was asleep by the time Rory came home from the footy!
SATURDAY 14TH
* Ate at Scarpetta on Brunswick Street - really really nice duck and spinach lasagna!
* Went to see Dave Quirk at the Erwin Rado Theatre - we missed out on tickets but the guy let us in the back entrance so we got to see the show for free.
* Went to Festival Club and saw Russell Howard MCing (fucking awesome), Mat Kenneally (okay), Hannah Gadsby (not too bad), Rhod Gilbert (hilarious), Charlie Pickering (stock material, but still good) and We Are Klang (holy shit I nearly died laughing which hasn't happened for a while!)
* Got home and watched R-R-RAAAAAGE for about half an hour - they were doing clips from 1992-1996. It made me remember:
- how rockin' Veruca Salt were
- how much Courtney Love cannot sing
- how fucking awesome the Sabotage clip is
- how much I miss Soundgarden and wish I'd been able to see them live
- how hot Trent Reznor is
* Fell asleep to the sweet sweet tones of Beth Gibbons and Jeff Buckley.
SUNDAY 15TH/MONDAY 16TH
* Nothing terribly interesting
TUESDAY 17TH
* Got a payrise!
* Charlie Pickering's show - brilliant. Definitely a master storyteller!
WEDNESDAY 18TH
* "Faked" a sickie - just needed a day off to rest
* Did a massive workout at the gym and paid for it the next couple of days owwww
* Watched The Machinist which was a bit mediocre
THURSDAY 19TH
* Rory bought me the cutest hat ever at Chadstone :D
FRIDAY 20TH
* Gavin Baskerville's show, which was... hmm, alright. I've seen much much better. In fact there were a few bits in the show where I was actually a little bored...?
SATURDAY 21ST
* Spent $120 at Queen Vic Market and now we have about 6 weeks worth of food in our freezer
* Thought I lost my cute hat :(
* Arrived late for Lawrence Leung's show but we didn't miss much
* Lawrence's show was FANTASTIC as always
* Went to the casino afterwards and played some Rapid Roulette and Casino War - lost $20 and got it back again (oh yeah I'm a super big gambler)
* Had a mini burger from Lord of the Fries (amazing what passes as a highlight to me :D)
* Found my hat safely sitting on the couch when we got home :D :D :D
SUNDAY 22ND
* Bought a washing machine!
* Almost flooded the bathroom with suds (oops)
* Russell Howard's show - again, brilliant!!!
I've still got another 7-8 shows to see between now and Sunday; it's looking good so far. Definitely a lot better than that first, below-average week!
