[ When Selina Kyle attends a party, she always has to make a statement. Which is why she has chosen to wear a red dress to this occasion as opposed to her normal black evening wear. After all, who is going to be looking for a cat burglar in red? But, no doubt Elizabeth would have let her leave Hatfield Palace without looking done up as well. It isn't hard for Selina to act like a socialite with grace and manners. As usual, she has her own reasons for being at the party. When doesn't Selina have her own agenda?

She pardons herself through the group of guests and makes her way towards the table with drinks on it. ]

[...So pretty. How does Raven get to be that pretty? Some day she needs to learn. Maybe.]

Raven. I was wondering where you've been.

[ Admittedly, it doesn't help that now Selina's nighttime job is thievery oops. ]

Things got kind of busy around here recently. [What with the holidays, and Dr. Magnus' apparently estranged daughter showing up.]

...How are you?

[adaptably]

I'm fine. [ Which means there are things going on but she's not at liberty to talk about them. ]

...That's good. [She nods. It is good. She worries, sometimes.]

I'm glad you could come.

[adaptably]

I wouldn't have been able to ignore it. Elizabeth would have hounded me to come.

What's it like living there? It's huge! [Even bigger than her house, and so shiny too!]

[adaptably]

It's... [ she trails off, trying to find the words. ] Like living here. Except with all the luxuries a girl could want.

...Are you happy?

[adaptably]

[ With that, the carefree smile goes away and she looks to the side, distant. ]

...I'm sorry.

[She shouldn't have asked. She's sure it's hard to be happy in a place one thinks they can't trust anyone around them.]

Being happy isn't as simple as the word sounds. [ Selina looks back at her, her eyes set and her expression like stone. ] You can have happiness, but that doesn't mean you're going to be happy.
