[The Major hasn't made a fuss about it. Even in the world she's used to, she didn't always wear it. More often than not it was tucked away safe in her apartment, or in her locker at work if they were out on a case. She couldn't risk it being damaged, after all everything else she had, everything she was, was well, ultimately replaceable. New limbs, a whole new body if necessary, a new cyber-brain to house her memories. Even those down be downloaded and rebooted now, to some degree

[ Mr. Gold smiles at the woman as she walks in. She is certainly from a background of justice, that much is easy to see. He puts his hands on top of the glass display case in front of him. Oh, she very much is looking for something. If that something is in his possession now or yet to show up is something else entirely. ]
I see that you are here looking for something. [ He waves his hand to dismiss any comments that could be made about his. ] That something is from your home, yes? It's possible it could be here.
[She's never been all that happy that she's so easy to read, but she wasn't about to pretend she was anything but herself at the moment. If what she wanted was here, then she was leaving with it, one way or another. It was probably going to be fairly difficult to arrange- the place didn't exude a feeling of helpful friendliness, not even if the proprietor was more than keen to be helpful.]
Doesn't everyone come here looking for something they've lost? I thought that was the nature of your invitation. Things... turn up here. [And so saying, she starts looking through the display cases, trying to find that one, small item.]
Maybe you've seen it. A silver watch? Oval face. The back is... there's a date, on the back.
[ In her defense, there tends to be only one reason why people come to his shop. Either deals in magic or deals for their items from their long lost homes. It's simply a matter of math to figure out what one the mysterious purple haired woman was looking for. ]
Not everyone, but enough of them for it to matter. [ He smirks at her wit. ]
I have several watches here, my dear. Although... I may have seen the one you are describing. [ Taking his cane, Mr. Gold walks over to another display case. He reaches into it, pulling out a display rack with several watches on them. ]
As long as it's enough to keep you in business. So many small traders lose out, don't they? [It's idle chatter, but she's in no hurry. There's a lot in these cases, some of which looks completely alien to her, and some of the tech she'd love to get her hands on.
But as she follows him, her fingers gently caressing over the top of one glass case, something else strikes her] I suppose, with things just popping up here, it's very hard to provide proof of ownership? No receipts, no tags, no paper-trail...
[Not that she's implying anything, Mr Gold. But a dishonest person might use that to their benefit]
And of course, it is nothing more than what it appears. There is such a thing as looking too hard, isn't there?
[And with that, and his gesture, she turns her attention to the tray. There's hers, right enough, and she moves to lift it free of the others, to check it for damage.]
I suppose I should ask how much I might pay to have this back?
[She didn't think he would. No pawn shop is completely legitimate. Ever.]
You do? Why am I not surprised that nothing is simple here? [She relaxes her stance, setting the watch back in it's place. It's not hers till a deal is done, apparently] Although as you can't prove your ownership anyway, but go ahead. What would be a fair... price?
There is nothing in life that is simple. [ He states simply. He glances down at the watch. Such a sentimental little thing. ] A trade. Your watch for something that I want. I think that's more than fair.
It is the currency that I recognize and find valuable. [ Mr. Gold looks her watch over. ]
I need information about the time before we arrived here in this city. The bits that hover around in the Underground. The secrets they don't want us to know.
[She doesn't even need to consider. It isn;t that the watch is worth everything, anything. It's simply sentimental and for a long while she's chastised herself for caring so much about it. But it is still important, just like going home.
And maybe this is an opportunity for her to learn anything else she might need]

I have my own little ways, but, they tend to be rather difficult with so many worlds to keep track of.

But you'll need to be more specific in exactly what you want information about.
