[The Major had not been idle. As soon as she was able she was up and about, going as much reconnaissance as she was able to. She was no longer in Japan, that much was immediately clear. It was not any city she recognised, nor was she able to connect to any of her usual networks. Each and every attempt left a loud buzz of static in her ear ( Read more... )

[Tony's learned to lower his standards a lot since coming to Mandalus, and he'd never really been all that picky about booze in the first place. He's been to so many bars in the city that he's starting to lose track of which one's which. This time he's chatting with a stranger at the bar when he notices the pretty lady come in and sit beside him. Because he has no survival instinct, he leans towards her with one of his most charming smiles.]

Sweetheart, you can get as many beers as you want. [He motions to the bartender to get her a beer and to refill Tony's own drink while he's at it, then turns back to the newcomer.] First one's on me.

[Huh. People are the same everywhere, then. Even on alien planets. And despite the urge to prove him right, to tip the beer over him, well... a free drink and maybe some more information is worth a little bit of shameless flirting.

She gives a soft, feminine sort of laugh, tucking some of the long strands of hair behind one ear. If she wasn't in her combat gear this would be much easier to pull off but beggar's can't choosers.] Arigatou, sir. Alhught you realy don't have to. A girl has to fin her own way in the world, even if it isnt the one she's used to.

[She turns in her seat to look at him, folding one long leg over the othe in a slow, provocative movement.] You can call me Ai.

[Japanese, huh? He knows a couple words, nothing too impressive, but he racks his brain for the proper response and answers with a smile.] Doitashimashite. And one little beer won't hurt, yeah? It's no trouble on my part, anyway.

[He watches her cross her legs while holding out his hand for a handshake.] Tony Stark. Pleasure to meet you.

[And that one little word, pronounced right too, piques her interest] Well as long as I'm not causing any handsome men any trouble this evening...

[Then she touches her hand to his, shaking with less force than she might otherwise] A pleasure to meet you too, Mr Stark. I didn't expect to find anyone here who could speak Japanese.

[Tony has to admit, he misses the obvious flirting sometimes. There's just something refreshing about it, especially in a place where his name doesn't precede him. And this girl is pretty easy on the eyes too, which helps.]

Just Tony, please. 'Mr. Stark' is for business. As is most of my Japanese, I'm afraid. I'm hardly fluent.

[There's a gentle, almost embarrassed laugh as she glances down, and then back to him again]

Tony, then. And please, don't apologise to me. I'm sure it's much more than I expected to hear.

Were you brought here too? From Earth?

[He nods and sips at his drink.] Yep, the United States, Earth, 2012, specifically. I take it you're a new arrival?

A very new arrival, yes. But I think I'm find my way around. Most cities are similar... [She shrugs and reaches for her beer, taking a swallow.]

There doesn't seem to be any pattern of whose been taken, does there? But tell me, Tony, what do you do here?

There's a map and internet access on your phone, if you haven't found it already.

[He glances up from his drink to smirk at her.] You'll have to be a little more specific than that, dear. For example, what I do here in this bar is order a few drinks and chat with pretty strangers.

[She had and frankly... well, she was used to much higher quality and quantity of information] I suppose we should be thankful for what we have.

[Oh god] Well, I suppose then I mean on Mandalus in general? In bars I talk to handsome Americans, although it's hardly a habit.

That gets real old, real fast. The lack of info here is starting to be a serious pain in the ass.

[I would apologize for Tony but it's too funny to stop.] Careful, once you start it's a hard habit to break. As for what I do, well, I suppose you could say I run a small company, but to be completely honest my girlfriend does most of that. The rest of the time I spend trying to find a way out of this place and blowing shit up.
