[Finally finding down time from everything, Shepard headed for the bridge, intent on just sitting in Joker's seat and relaxing in the quiet while he got some work down, but as he headed into the small room at the front of the ship, just off the CIC, he was met with a familiar face instead.]

Kerrigan. It's good to see you. [He patted her arm as he moved to sit in the pilot's seat, watching the snow through the cockpit window.] We're going to have to get a team to clean this off the ship, or she'll probably be damaged.

Commander.

[ Kerrigan only blinks, her eyes staring at the falling snow. He couldn't really sneak up on her. ]

They don't build your ships to handle weather conditions?

Sure they do, but she's not made to sit out in the snow. I just know if Joker was here, he'd be complaining as loud as possible.

It sounds like you're doing the complaining for him.

Someone has to.

[He tilts his head to give her a smile, but he wonders if she's unhappy with him, because of his behaviour during that off week.] Do we need to talk, Sarah?

You could make Kai Leng do it. He always has something to complain about.

[ She glances over at him. ] About what, John?

That's a really good idea. I knew there was a reason I loved having you around.

[He offers a small smile.] About how much of an asshole I was during... that week?

Besides the fiery red hair?

[ Kerrigan sighs and looks to him. Finally. ] That John wasn't you. You may share the same name and history, but he wasn't you. His goals and thoughts were nothing like yours. [ A frown sets on her face. ] He was more like Arcturus.

That's always a pretty sight, of course.

[He nods a little bit.] It still doesn't change the fact I remember everything I said and did. So, I'm sorry. [He gives her a concerned look.] You haven't said much about Arcturus. [Aside from him leaving her behind, if he recalls right.]

Thank you, Commander. [ She just smirks. Yeah, those thoughts of yours? She totally knows them. ]

[ Kerrigan just nods to accept the apology. Then she sighs and closes her eyes. ] He's the leader of the Sons of Korhal, a rebel group against the Terran Confederacy. The story goes that he started it after the Confederacy nuclear wiped out most of Korhal since they were opposing the Confederacy. Sent in a team of ghosts to kill the entire Mengsk family. Arcturus wasn't there, so he got away just fine.

[What can he say? She's attractive and he isn't blind.]

[He sits quiet as she explains, and listens to her with a small frown on his face.] Sounds like he was lucky. [And that other people were very unlucky that he got away like that.]

[ Well, she appreciates the compliments at least. She won't tell Kaidan. Promise! ]

He saved me from a research facility... Ghosts don't have free will. Not under the Confederacy. They put inhibitors and suppressors inside our heads to make us mindless weapons. They were testing to see how the psionics of a Ghost would effect the xenomorphs they discovered. The Zerg. [ Her eyes close tightly. ] I thought that he was actually there to save me from it all. I thought he proved he actually was earnest about wanting a better future, but then when we started to fight against the Confederacy after Mar Sara was attacked by the Zerg and nuked by the Confederacy... it all changed. Or maybe I finally just realized what was going on.

[He goes quiet through her explanation and he can't help wanting to hug her, or something, anything, just to make her feel better, but he doesn't think she is the kind of person who just wants a hug.]

I'm sorry, that must have been horrible for you... all of it. [He's had a crappy life but nowhere near that bad. Not even Kaidan had it that bad and he was at Brain Camp for his biotic abilities.]

The horrible thing is the fact that I trusted him. Even though Jim tried to talk reason into me.

You're bound to trust someone you think you can work with. I've made that mistake too, Sarah, it's not your fault.
