Three - Steps towards redemption

[Well, the trench-coat is back. So is the expression of utter guilt. The background is, unfortunately, not familiar to the angel, which was the only reason why he dialed in the video option of the phone. He looks ... tired. Even for Castiel ( Read more... )

video;

Words only tend to mean so much to people, as I'm sure you are aware of. You need to prove it through action as well. [ Although, Helen is angry at Dean. Not Castiel. ]

[The angel tilted his head down slowly.] I shall do what i can, to show my contrite behavior.

[ Helen bites her lip. Good Lord, Castiel. You certainly know the puppy eyes. Don't you? ]

You had mentioned killing the residents of Hell, when I last spoke to you. You were under the impression they had showed up here... due to one of the Winchesters.

[Oh Helen, you have no idea. These are the most woe-begone blue eyes you have ever seen.]

I believed so ... although I do not know ...I do not believe it was their fault. I believe it the fault of this place.

[ Challenge accepted. ]

The man known as Praenuntius tends to leave cryptic messages as to what may happen to us. They say it is the fault of the Serpent, but, there's no real definite proof to say either way. You all may have been under it's influence, but that doesn't get rid of the collateral damage.

No, of course it does not. We all must atone for our further sins. More arrogance, more lives lost. ... [The angel sighed, looking at his hands together.]

Sometimes I feel as if the blood will never be off my hands.

I'm not entirely certain I believe in the idea of sins, but, mistakes must be amended and fixed. Otherwise how can we move forward at all? Holding onto the past simply keeps us there. [ She frowns, very much aware that she does what she talks about.

His comment makes her face soften. ] I'm certain I have more blood on my hands than you do, Castiel.

I am not sure how to fix this yet. I cannot bring back lost lives. All I can do is ... heal the lives here now. And I know so little about human nature, I do not know how to do even that for them [He continued to look down at his hands.]

I ... highly doubt that, Helen. [He breathed out softly.]

Offering to do what you can to make it up to someone is always the first step. It also depends on how willing they are to forgive you.

[ A small, but sad, smile tugs on her face. ] I do have nearly three hundred years of making mistakes with lives. I wouldn't count me out just yet.

...I can offer pie? I believe that is a good start.

[And congratulations, you have allowed Castiel to blink.] ...You are three hundred years old?

[ Helen laughs gently. ] That would be a fantastic start.

Almost. Two hundred and seventy-four, given the birthday that just passed here in Mandalus.

...what sort of pie do you like?

[He nods his head, slow.] I am glad to speak to someone of a ... relative age.

[ Her expression softens and she just smiles at him, shaking her head softly. Oh, Castiel. You are too sweet. ] We'll go with anything you'd like to try.

Relative, but not quite there? [ The tone is definitely a teasing one. ]
