[When the video clicks on, it's Elizabeth, but she's... not just her, she's dressed like a queen again, not the simpler plain dresses she keeps herself too. Cream silk decorated with pearls, her hair neatly arranged underneath the shining crown of diamonds set in gold. If it's heavy, it doesn't show, she tilts her head up, and she's elated, her ( Read more... )

video;

My, my. It would seem a congratulations is in order. [ Mr. Gold just chuckles. ] Congratulations on a decade of your reign, Your Majesty. Hopefully you are fair in how you rule over others of your world.

My thanks for yours, Master Gold. [she grins.] I aim to be all that a ruler can be, the rest is for the others to decide.

Then implying that you believe your word is absolution above all else.

Hardly that, the only absolution I know is God. How I am viewed after my death is not... my place to comment on.

[because she doesn't completely understand how people treat her about this victory she'll supposedly win.]

You are a fascinating monarch, Your Majesty. The ones I have met tend to believe they hold the power above everyone else. Not a god.

Oh, I do have power above everyone else. It wouldn't be called absolute power if it was anything less, and like every other monarch, I know well how quickly it can be ripped off me. I just chose to deal with that fear differently. As for delusions of grandeur, well... that depends on my mood, I am afraid, and who I am talking to.

[She'd teased and said she was changeable. It was true, she was fickle as the wind, when it came to doing what needed to be done.]

A monarch who knows their place in the world. I suppose there needs to be one just world among all the others that are out there. [ Mr. Gold just smiles. Oh, he'd love to see Queen Elizabeth and Queen Regina argue about power and all of it. ] You mean, who it is you favor.

Princes are set upon stages in view of all the world, we must remember that crowds can be fickle things. [... Queen Regina is such a silly name, good God someone didn't know their Latin. Elizabeth already considers herself superior.] Of course, who it is I favour.

[playing favourites in court is nothing new.]

The crowds are one thing, dearie. The heart of the ruler is another. [ OR THEY PURPOSELY DID IT YOU NEVER KNOW ] Which is what it always comes down to with the people like you. Your favorites.

One thing yes, but believe me it doesn't matter what you believe, when the people want something, you have to give it to them, and then its blamed on you when it falls apart. [there is a shrug, and she's watched it happen so many times, it's why she thinks democracy is the dumbest thing in the world. IUNNO SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE WAS INSECURE ABOUT SUCCESSION AND JUST WANTED TO REINFORCE IT, PTH, SO NOVAE RICHE

But his words the statement of 'people like you'. On this day, more than any other, that held no bearing. Just made her smirk widen, the arrogance, the pride, that could only come from a Prince seeped out.] Lets just hope I chose the right ones then, shall we?

[because she would not step down, she wouldn't not turn back. If he was looking for some kind of repentance to how things were, he would never get one. Not from her.]

As it is with human nature. It is never their fault. It is always the fault of another. [ Pot calling kettle black. ]

Oh. I certainly do hope so. Otherwise you might find yourself in a rather... unhappy ending.

Well, there is one thing to knowing your own future. I know I shall have a better ending than many a monarch could hope for. For I have the love of my people and the knowledge I lead them into a brighter dawn. [-- it's not a lie, not just the lip service of a queen. She does love her people. To know that she did right by them, that her sacrifice and that of her family did not come to nothing, means more to her than anything she can think of.]

Just be aware of those who would take it from your fingertips, Your Majesty. Especially the people you think you trust the most. [ SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE and everything. ]

Oh, I am more than aware. I am well used to conspiracy. But those who would will find themselves at my mercy soon enough. [HER TOO. THEY ALL DIED. IT'S COOL. Except her broken heart, crying.]
