Really now?
[Brace yourselves, folks. The newcomer on the feed is giving everybody a very, very stern look, boarding irritated.] You help to stop the world from ending once and suddenly everybody expects you to work the same miracle for their own apocalypse.
At least back in Icarus, their goddess had the good sense to ask nicely before spiriting us

[ Congratulations, Anathema. You've caught the attention of one Desmond Miles. Barely anyone knows his ancestor's name, so how do you know it? ]
Altaïr... isn't here. [ His eyes narrow. ] How do you know him?

He isn't? [Don't mind the way her expression falls at that. Really, she probably should have expected as much.] I know him from Icarus. He's a....he's helped me, on more than one occasion.

No. He left a while ago. [ Which still sucks, but his ancestor has stuff he had to do. He gets it. It just... sucks. ] Icarus. Let me guess, it's another world that holds people hostage for reasons of either fighting a war or experimentation.

And what do you mean he left? How long ago? [She just talked with him only a few days ago. In Icarus. Where they had both been living for months and....seriously. What.]

As in he was here, then he got sent back. It was months ago. [ His eyebrow raises up. ]

Thank you for your time. I'm sorry my concern has inconvenienced you.
[Read: go jump in a river you stupid git.]

You can be pissed all you want, but how do you think you'd react if some stranger started asking you questions about him?
[ Honestly, he just doesn't trust people easily. Even more so when they bring up his ancestors. The only people that have ever asked about them by name tend to be ... well, Templars. ]

I think I'd at least be courteous enough to not act as if they're going to....whatever it is you're so worried about. [Okay, no, calm breath. Really though, she'd be a little distrustful herself. She understands that. But she's not going to put aside her own concern, either, and the tight purse of her lips says about as much.] The man bloody well knows how to take care of himself. If you're so close, you know that.

Without warning, Desmond flips it to being private;. He doesn't want anyone else seeing whatever might be talked about. Especially since the Brotherhood isn't supposed to call attention to themselves. ]
Yeah, he does. But we've all been lied to and manipulated. [ The details to that one are going to stay under lock and key. ] He left about four months ago. He wasn't here very long.
If you know him, then you probably understand why I'm being a jerk.

I'm understanding it seems to be a theme when it comes to him, at least. [The guy rudely shut her down for months each time she asked for a name. :| Why should his social circle be any different sigh] But if he left four months ago....
[....no. That just doesn't make sense, even for her.] Perhaps we're talking about two different people? I mean, it's not exactly the most common name, no, but....

More like... when it comes to people like us. [ Desmond shrugs. ] I'm pretty sure it's the same person. I've seen people here that were in Mandalus who don't remember it at all.
Either way, sorry I was a dick. [ He's still a little wary but, if she knows Altaïr by name? Then she has to be trust worthy on some level. ] I'm Desmond, by the way.

"People like you". It sounds as if there's a story there. [Not that she's about to pry, really. Past experiences have usually shown that she....really is better off not knowing. Instead she just smiles, wry as it is.]
And I suppose you're forgiven, for now. Anathema. It's a pleasure.

Something like that. [ He has no idea if she knows anything about the Brotherhood or the Creed. Best to just keep that to himself until he can find out more about her. ]
For now. That sounds like pretty much the story of my life. [ He nods. ] Nice to meet you, Anathema.
