For the Brotherhood:

[Ezio is stood near the Codex Wall when he calls all his assassins to him, in Mario's Study in the Villa. He has a new plan, a new direction for the Order, and while he has discussed some of this with Desmond, he is certain this is the best for them all.]Lately, the Order has become stagnant. We do not have cause to fight here ( Read more... )

Action

[The Spine was restless. He'd been reunited with Rabbit which was always a good thing, but what he'd talked about with Dean when he first got there had him thinking.

So he was walking the streets, frowning up at buildings as he went, expression thoughtful. He stopped when there was the hollow thunk of his foot on a manhole cover, and he looked down at it, optics brightening in realization. sewers.

Anything above ground was in constant need of maintenance just from people messing with it, and in a fight it was a vulnerability. If it was underground... well that would be safer, easier to maintain. Not to mention the best place to make safehouses for noncombatants and supplies, maybe an emergency medical facility.

He had an idea... now to find a map and see if it was feasible.]

[Ezio, having noted the odd robots with large curiosity, couldn't help himself from following this newest one a little way. He didn't know Rabbit, he'd never spoken to him personally, but Helen had, and he was sure Desmond had too. That made them even more curious.

He was sure this man (he was definitely a man, artificial skin or not, he was a living being and deserved the respect any living person did) was curious about something concerning the sewers, from the way he looked at the manhole cover, and he didn't quite know if that was something to be worried over.

Feigning unintentionally bumping shoulders with him, he nodded his head politely.] My apologies... ah, you are new to Mandalus, aren't you?

[It was an automatic thing, to reach up and tip his hat with an apologetic smile when the stranger bumped into him, even if he'd simply been standing still.]

Quite alright. I'm the one standing here with my head in the clouds. [He chuckled quietly, hand falling back to his side.] I am yes. Lucky guess, or did my gaping at everything give it away?

Aha, a little of both, I think. [He offers his hand, in greeting.] I am Ezio. Welcome to the city, for what it's worth.

New kids always stand out somehow. Good to meet you, Ezio. I'm The Spine.

[He shakes the offered hand, mindful not to grip too tightly.] Gotta say despite the situation, it seems everyone's pretty welcoming.

The Spine? That is a curious name.

[He nods a bit, and then adjusts his hood a little.] Si, most of us know there is little point in being unkind when we are all washed away in the same storm.

I suppose it is. Not every day you see someone named after a body part like that.

Well, even knowing that, people tend to do strange things when they're scared or confused.

It's unique, at least.

[He chuckles lightly.] You are right. [He glances around them and frowns briefly.] What were you doing here?

Well, I spoke with one of the others, Dean. Told me about everything that's been going on the past couple months, what with the attacks. [The smile slipped from his face, expression turning serious as he crossed his arms, considering even as he was explaining ( ... )

[Ezio nods a little bit, and smirks slightly at the whole idea. The phone system had worked during the attacks but there's nothing to say that won't change and this idea is very clever.]

The sewers could work, but there is a network of tunnels that was recently uncovered. Mandalus has an Underground that is thriving with ghosts of their lost culture. Perhaps there would be more adequate for you.

[He contemplates this for a moment longer.] Curious... but would you be willing to be hired, to create an independent network for my... organisation?

Well that's even better. Could set something more secure if that's the case.

[That question earns a quirk of a brow, green optics focusing on Ezio.] Well that depends on what sort of organisation it was.

I can escort you. The tunnels are vast, and easy to be lost in.

[He smiles lightly.] We are an Order of men and women who seek freedom for those around, and oppose those who oppress us. For now, our biggest concern is the Serpent that seeks to destroy all worlds, so we do what we can to weaken it's forces. We prefer to remain anonymous, for the sake of protecting those we work for and with.

I'd appreciate that.

[He crosses his arms, frowning thoughtfully. It wasn't a dangerous technology or anything to do harm though, so he was less uncertain about the idea than he might've been otherwise.] I don't see why I couldn't set up and maintain something for your Order. [The way Ezio says it is more like a title, a small nuance The Spine picks up on.] I'll need to know a little bit more about how you operate if I'm going to make it practical for you though. Not out here in the open obviously, but you get the idea.

Then I shall lead the way.

[He begins to walk, gesturing for The Spine to walk with him.] Grazie, your help is appreciated. [The nearest way into the Underground isn't far and Ezio leads the way down into the darkened tunnels, glad that there is some form of lighting down here, for the most part.]

We tend to work solo, and call upon each other is we are in need of aid. Often we travel by rooftop and find ourselves in... ah, unfortunate situations, so it would need to be something small and durable.

[The Spine doesn't mind one way or the other; green optics able to see just as well in dark or light as he studies their surroundings, part of his attention remaining on Ezio and what he was saying. The description definitely fit something more covert, from what he did explain to the way he did.]

From the sounds of things something discrete wouldn't be amiss either. If they don't know it's something more than a piece of jewelry or a bangle of some sort who'd bother messing with it?

That would be a benefit, I believe. We do not wish for the System to be aware of this, as they tend to listen in on conversations had on their own network, as far as we have come to learn.

[He absently gestures around them.] These tunnels were opened in the chaos of the attacks in August and September. They weave all over under the city and hold much evidence of Mandalus' older culture.
