[Thor is on top of a sky scraper, the night sky visible behind him, covered in stars. He has a concerned, curious look to him, and he can't quite bring himself to believe what he's about to announce.]

For any who were curious about the lights in the sky that accompanied the crashing sounds, when The System fought the Serpent, I have information.

Oh great, so all this magic tree bullshit is still in play here? No offense, big guy, but seriously.

[Thor scowls at that. He is tired of this.]

Brush it off as much as you wish, but this is evidence, Stark, and saying "no offense" does not take away the fact your words are offensive. Magic exists, learn to accept it.

[What do you mean saying 'no offense' doesn't make it all better, that's crazy talk.]

Magic's one thing, but the universe being a big fucking tree is kind of a different thing entirely.

The structure of the universe is the shape of a tree. It does not mean it is wooden and has leaves. It has a main structure and ways branching off it. You cannot argue that, you have not travelled outside of your own realm, beyond being dragged to Mandalus. I have lived many centuries and seen many realms. Believe what you want, but this is truth.

...They were roots?

[But they killed Teddy.]

Yes. I am not sure of what the commotion was, the banging and the sparks, but I do know that those are the roots of Yggdrasil. We see images of them when we use our Bifrost, the bridge we used to travel by.

I guess we're all in new territory here.

Most of you are, yes, but this is a valuable piece of knowledge. This means we know our place in the universe, and where we can aim to go from here.

Wait. The roots? You're sure? [ They were talking about it possibly being the branches, but... ]

I am certain of it. I have seen images of the tree in it's full form. We are amongst the roots, which suggest... we are closer to Hel and Niflheim than we are to Midgard. Perhaps somewhere between. It makes sense, given that this world is, as such, the root of all others.

Then how is it the roots of Hel and Niflheim if it's... in between them?

It could be upon the same root, such as being a byway towards Hel and Niflheim. It would be difficult to be certain, and it would help if we had a Bifrost or the Tesseract in order to travel to find out.

Yggdrasil? [She does a shit job of pronouncing it and makes a face in apology.] I think I saw that in Erik's book. We're at the base of it?

[He smiles a bit at that.] Yes. Well, amongst the roots, at least, and further from Midgard than I first believed. Even further from Asgard.

That's a big tree. Do you think there could be other planets among its roots?

No doubt. I expect there is much to each realm that not even my people know. The realms are vast and your own is one of the bigger ones. It is not surprising there is more than we know of out there.

From the other day, when Dr. Foster was in the middle of all of it, that was what was happening?

flipsalltables November 11 2012, 00:48:44 UTC
Yes, it seems that this Serpent is a mimicry of the one from my own culture. It is not Jörmungandr, that much is obvious to me, but those were the roots of Yggdrasil and that Serpant is a threat to all worlds for certain.

So the big question now, is how do we stop it, I presume?

It would seem so. Of course, that seems a daunting task.
