[Dean is outside, and it's dark out, and the distinct sound of monsters and creatures can be heard, even if it's a faint sound. He's got plenty of weapons but he's not showing them off, instead he's making a purposeful point to not make it obvious he's hunting the monsters out there, or that he even knows how to. He looks stressed, however, even to

[ With the loss of Henry weighing down on her, Helen is angry. Not angry enough to seek revenge; she's too old to know that doesn't solve problems. Instead she funnels her emotions into work. Just as she always has. She closes the van door harder than she'd of liked, but with the Magnusslinger in hand, she's out to hopefully bring Abnormals to the Sanctuary before they are mistaken as the monsters. With her coat tucked around her tightly. Helen peaks around the corner, hearing a noise... ]

That's a heck of a weapon, Doc. [He eyes it for a second, wondering just what it does.] I'm guessing you're looking for the nice ones, huh?

[ There's a flash of pain over her face at the mention of Henry before she looks back down the alleyway. ] I'm attempting to save them from a wronged death, yes. I suspect you are out hunting the mean ones? As you would so delicately put it.

[He gives her a mildly amused look at her comment and shrugs a bit.] I'm only killing the ones who're gonna kill us first. It's what a hunter does, because it ain't often we find a nice one, back home. But hey, if you need a hand catching ones that aren't hurting anyone, I'll give you a hand.

Then she looks over at Dean with a frown. ] Yes, him. Although it was less of being "torn up" and more of being mauled. From what I saw, Henry did some equal damage to him. The foe simply had the element of surprise. [ Her voice is rather flat and filled with authority, which is certainly a new tone when talking to him. ]
You do realize that sometimes, they simply attack because it's their defense systems. What most people define as cruel is simply how they respond to being threatened. This isn't always the case, of course, but you do need to know how to tell the difference. Otherwise you're simply killing an innocent like they are. [ She makes sure the Magnusslinger is charged before turning down into the alleyway. ]

[He gives her a slightly annoyed look, shaking his head a bit.] Sure, where you come from, they might have that kind of defense mechanism. It my world, they kill for fun, or they kill to eat us. It's just how things are for us. I learned the difference between monsters and the ones who don't mean to hurt folks years ago. [He's quite sure he'd rather have his dad breathing down his neck on a hunt, telling him he's doing it wrong, than to have to have a conversation like this.]

[ She ties so very hard not to roll her eyes. It's namely her anger about Henry getting to her, and she does know it. When someone close to her dies, her emotions start going haywire. She snaps and bites, and everything she represses starts to show. Being around for three hundred years doesn't make everything happy. ]
Really? [ Her head turns to look at him. ] Go on then. Tell me the difference where you're from.

Alright, I'll give you a case me and Sammy took years ago. He was twenty-three, I was twenty-seven. [He swallows thickly.] Our first werewolf without our dad, since we're on the topic. Her name was Madison. She was killing dudes who pissed her off, eating their hearts because that's what they do. She didn't know she was doing it, and dammit all, me and Sam we tried to find a way to help her. We took out the werewolf who turned her, a real savage one that was going after girls for the fun of it, we had to try it ( ... )

She remains quiet as she listens to the story. Many things come to her mind, in what she'd do differently. But, Helen has to remind herself, that Dean is still very young. She has had nearly three centuries to figure out how to handle the abnormals who are on the edge and pull them back. Not everyone has the experience she does, nor the patience she does. She glances away before looking back at him. ]
I certainly hope you do, Dean, because most simply don't. Most don't realize that these beings are simply ones who are lost who need guidance. There are always the exceptions. [ There is a sigh. ] My protege and I were once crashed in the Hindu Kush, on our way from ( ... )

Irritation flashes over his face, because he's in his thirties and feels like he's being lectured by his father, although John had decidedly different opinions when it came to anything that wasn't human. He shakes his head a bit, though, because he doesn't have the blind faith in Helen that he once had in his father and he doesn't agree with her entirely. But his tone isn't aggressive, it's conversational.]
In your world, maybe. In my world, these things are as smart as humans, sometimes smarter, and they're vicious, angry bastards who want to hurt people because it's fun. There are nicer ones, the ones Sammy and me do our damnedest to help, but we usually get stuck with the ones who enjoy hurting us, not because it's instinct, but because they just like it. [He shakes his head a little bit again.] We know when ( ... )

[ Helen simply gives him a stare that a mother would. It's clear that they agree on most of it, simply just the fact that the fate of the being is either caring or death. She's dealt with the type of Dean Winchester before. There's no doubt in her mind that she won't be able to change his, but hopefully if he can see the spectrum as a bit wider? It'll be more help to him personally than anything else. It's similar as to how she hopes that Arthur can see past the negative of what magic can do.
She warily eyes the man that steps out. After a glance to Dean she nods and lowers her weapon. Her hand goes out to the other man. ]
A pleasure, Sam. I'm Dr. Helen Magnus. Your brother and I were simply discussing what to do with some of the beings lurking in the shadows. [ Her head tilts up slightly. ] Which begs the question as to why you were lurking ( ... )

He eyes Sam for a second, and something looks a bit off about him, maybe his hair has grown a bit more in the last few months they've been in Mandalus and he just hasn't noticed it until now.] Yeah, what were you doing, man? Last I saw you, you headed up near the Temple.
[The being, "Sam" eyes the two of them in Sam's typically critical nature but gives Dean that boyish smile.] I was. I got rid of a few... things that were hanging around up there. [Quickly his gaze finds Helen and the smile widens into one that flashes dimples and he nods in greeting, shaking her hand.] Hi, Dr. Magnus. It's nice to meet you. I wasn't lurking, I was just coming back from dealing with some work. I'll help, if you want.
Of course we want. Come on, Sammy. [Dean flashes Helen a grin as they keep moving, and his whole ( ... )

Walking around in the darkened alleyway instead of walking up to your brother certainly does define you as lurking. [ There's an underscore of teasing in the scolding she gives, but she nods. ] Your brother is hunting, while I'm trying to make sure that we don't kill the wrong beings. You're more than welcome to join us.

What are we hunting?
Not sure yet. Could be anything. There's tons of 'em out tonight. I swear it's like a monster convention. [Dean doesn't notice the way the being stands that bit too close, he's used to it, but after a moment or so "Sam" pauses in his steps, shaking his head a little bit and grabbing Dean's arm.]
Can we just... go somewhere safe for a minute? I'm feeling kind of nauseous. [Dean looks back to Helen quickly, because his instinct is to get a doctor to fix him, but he doesn't push.] You'll be fine. You've just forgot how to adjust to the smell of this much blood. Deep breaths. [And Dean keeps walking, while "Sam" looks to Helen with briefly pleading eyes.]

After the look, she steps up to beside Sam. ] I am a medical doctor, Sam. Perhaps I can help?
