I have noticed this. My powers are limited. Much of what I used to be able to do has been weakened, or outright stopped.

As for a job, I am sure you could ask and there would be those who would give one to you, when I was travelling with the Warden, many often asked for aid in menial matters. There were even Chanter's boards, devoted to small jobs for money. I don't think my skill set will be in much demand here, a great shame.

I do not think it wise to try! It will not come off by simply moving or pulling, and somehow I think that there might be precautions for those who dare remove them. I'm afraid I do not have my father's talents with technology, so I have little in the way of ability to safely remove it.
