[The oh so forever annoying sound of the alarm clock going off is what rouses Darcy from sleep. Whining tiredly, she turns onto her stomach, reaching blindly for the source of the offensive sound. Her hand slaps at the clock and hits the snooze button. The room is plunged into quiet once more and Darcy sighs blissfully. She cracks an eye open to

[There's a man walking down the street in Darcy's direction - he notices her, and while he knows they haven't met before, she looks a little.. unsettled. Raising a brow, he clears his throat, approaches.] Excuse me, miss? Are you alright?

[Panicked ramblings...everywhere.]
Reply
-I. Hold on, slow down. [He holds his hands up, brows furrowed.] I'm not... sure what to tell you that you won't believe, but you're in a place called Mandalus.

Darcy cuts herself off suddenly when he lifts his hands. And then the rambling starts again.] See, that's what he said and that's ridiculous because I have never heard of a Mandalus before. And I aced Geography freshman year.
Reply
That gets an uneasy smile and his hands drop, he nods.] Neither have I, but it wouldn't pop up on a map anyway. It's.. a different planet entirely.

I'm sorry, but no. If I did, I don't think any of us would be here. Just.. try to take it slow, alright?

Darcy worries at her bottom lip as she looks up at him. She shakes her head, brow furrowed.] This place is such a trip. And I can't even call my mom so she doesn't worry about me.
Reply
I would suggest you take care of yourself, that way she doesn't have much to worry about at least, when you're able to go back home. [He doesn't know when that is though, unfortunately.] -I'm Bruce.

He says she should take care of herself so her mom doesn't have to worry and that sort of...hits her. He's right. Her mom wouldn't want her panicking all over the place and doing something stupid and getting herself hurt.] You're right. [She nods. She gives him a small, half smile and a little wave.] Darcy. Hey.
Reply
For what it counts, I can keep you company. At least until you're a little more calm. [He returns the wave, just a little to try and joke around, then there's a smile.] Nice to meet you, Darcy.
Where are you from?
Reply
That's nice but you don't have to. I'm sure you've got...more important things to do than babysit a freaked out teenager.
[When he asks where she's from, she scratches at the back of her neck.] Before the apartment I woke up in here? Las Vegas, New Mexico. [Much smaller than the other Las Vegas.]

If by more important things, you mean wander around and get lost some more, you'd be right. I wouldn't offer if there was something more pressing. [Well, that gets a brow raise. It's certainly new, and it gets a nod.] Must be a nice place.
[Pause, then just to be polite.] I was... in Manhattan. Calcutta before that, but that would be getting into detail.
Reply
Darcy nods a little when he says that. It's nice of him, really.] I grew up there, so I'm sort of partial to it. [She nods.]
Calcutta? India? You went from India to New York? [Wow. What a jump.]
Reply
It's a long story. [He thinks on it, with a slight nod.] Trust me.
