Miracle Mom
sorry i haven't updated on mama since my previous post.
Mom's now out of ICU, and going home tomorrow...much to the amazement of the doctors!
When mom first got into ICU, and they prepared her for dialysis, the doctors had a choice of putting in a temporary shunt or a permanent shunt. They decided that with all her kidney troubles that she'd need the permanent one 'cause she was probably going to have to be on dialysis for a long time (if not the rest of her life). They did one treatment, and surprisingly mom's kidneys rallied back! I'd heard about people only needing one or two treatments, but with mom's kidneys so weak none of us thought that would be the case with her....but once again she surprised us all. (Mama has a way of doing that :D ) At first the doctors said that they'd keep the permanent shunt in for a week after her release as a precaution, but yesterday they decided they didn't even need to do that. so, they'll be taking it out today.
so, now all mama has to worry about is dealing with a slight kidney infection.
