Just Before

Can you really lose what was never had?
A little bit restless
With a twitching eye and heavy heart
And I’m tired of hearing just wait
It’s not fate
That has molded my fears
But the sunshine and rain, minutes and days
My hand is weary
From holding thin air
And you stay
Behind your fortress wall
Where was the line I signed for this
One kiss
That was all I needed
To make something out of apathy
But you took your lips
Your hand
Your heart
I’m tired of searching in the dark
So I’ll step on your porch
Slide down the door
Sense you on the other side and ask
Can you really lose what was never had?
And let the silence answer my cries
