I'm watching a recent ep of Covert Affairs, and they have someone playing a senator who is clearly supposed to be Southern, but is clearly being played by a non-Southerner. Why? Are there really no Southern actors in Hollywood? Somehow I doubt it. Or, y'know, play the senator as non-Southern if you can only do a hokey drawl, as his state doesn't seem to be important.

It's one thing to do bad foreign accents for a US audience, but c'mon, we're American! Get it right or don't do it!
