Cincy Weekend

Jul 24, 2006 18:42

So I went with my Dad and sister to Cincy this weekend and I guess we almost died on the way there...at least that's what I'm told...we went through some high water just north of Greensburg, and possibly almost hit a semi...I don't really know..I woke up to a big whoosh and my dad saying "It's ok, calm down, it's ok" to Heather. So we stopped for the night because it was raining so fricking hard you could barely see the road.
Then on Saturday we drove the last hour to Cincinnati and went to the Cincy Zoo. They had an awesome manatee, which I'll be sure to post pics of our weekend as soon as I get them off the camera. They also had penguins, I LOVE penguins!!!! I wanted this shirt they had there it said : "Peace, Love, & Penguins" and it had the cutest penguin on it, but instead  I got a stuffed animal b/c I love them so much!
Then afterwards we went and got a hotel room went to Big Boy, and then drove down by the river to Great American Ballpark (aka the place where the Red's play) to buy tickets for Sunday's game against the Brewer's. Then we drove across the bridge to the Newport Leavee (nothing at all like the one in WL :) ) We went to the mall (which was more like a small shopping center) and then went to the Newport Aquarium (which for me, the shark lover was awesome!!!). Inside it was packed with little kids running wildly through the place...but it was totally worth the $18 it cost to get in...I GOT TO PET A SHARK!!!! I was so excited!!! Then we got our picture taken like 30 bazillion times...and it was a lot of fun..we got to walk above the shark tank on the way out, and I was in such a great mood!!
We went to Cracker Barrell for dinner, and then went hot tubbing in the hotel...somehow I hurt my ankle...probably from the 15 miles of walking we did that day..
On Sunday we ate b-fast at the hotel and then drove to Florence, KY (the place where my family lived when I was born). It's like a 30 minute trip from there to Cincy, so it made me wonder why my parents drove that far to have me...??? It was kinda neat...the place where they lived so wasn't what I thought it was..but that's cool.
After that we went to the Red's hall of fame at GABP (see above) it was pretty fricking awesome. I got to see the Big Red Machine that my Dad is always talking about, and got to see some of his baseball heros in action on TV. Then we sat down for the Reds game, which they lost 4-1 but it was fun. I got an autograph from one of the players (who I now know as Bill Bray - used to play for the Nationals...) and when I got back to our seats (we were only like 9 rows up from the field so we got some awesom pics!) Dad was like, so who'd you get? and I was like I have no idea...it was funny at the time...We got to Ken Griffey Jr. play, and Heather and I noticed that Adam Dunn looked a lot like Will Ferrell...that was kinda funny...
So I know this is really long, so I'm gonna stop now, hope you like my new pic!
