So, today was my first official day as an intern at the Prosecuter's office in K-town. It lasted all of 20 minutes. Then I spent 5 more minutes looking up family who had possibly fought in foreign wars (not including either Iraq conflicts.). The 20 minutes I spent in the courthouse was basically like this: 845am - Secretary says "Hi, you must be Amanda. Mr. Flemming is expecting you." 9am - After explaining to the Prosecuter what my current goals were in life, and also having him describe his life as a student at both Notre Dame and Nortwestern, we took a tour of the court house, which I didn't know had four floors. 9:15 am - I got my picture taken for my "courthouse" official id tag. Then "Flemming" (which is what the guy told me to call him since I am too young to be calling hime Jamie (his name is James Flemming)) took me around to each superior court and introduced me to the judges, telling me what I would be doing for the next 4 weeks. The judges were cool, then I got to go to the drug and alcohol center, which is like the drug crime lab here in K-town. Then I got to meet the head Probation officer, whose name I don't remember. So basically tomorrow I get to run errands for 2 hours, because even though I'm supposed to be there from 9-12, I'm only going to be there until 11 at the latest on every day but Wednesday, then 1130 on Wednesday (since I get to spend an hour at the Youth detention center). So that's how my day has been so far. hope everyone is having a great summer, and I'll write again when I have the chance! Later!
