I've been exhausted. Anyway, I spent Easter in Lancaster with NAmy and the Noll family, which surprisingly made for the best holiday I've had in a long time. It reminded me of the old days when MY whole family lived in the same state and we'd get together every weekend... but those times are gone, and now, I just graft myself into other families. ;)
Anyway, I hadn't planned on going... Just on crashing on Noll's floor Saturday after work and then spending Sunday battlefielding in Gettysburg. You know, make my own church on hallowed ground type of thing. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a straying Catholic, and it seemed natural to do that rather than attend mass alone on Easter. But, NAmy wouldn't allow that! I got to go to service with them.... which, for a Catholic-raised girl, was a little (or, a lot) out of the norm. I kind of liked it, though, despite being caught sitting between Noll and Amy singing psalms. Did anyone else know that Noll is as tone deaf as Amy? Because, let me tell you, I didn't think it was possible til Sunday. ( Don't get upset now, you know I still love you both! It's endearing.)
Church, though, was the real point of this. I wanted to announce that I've officially had my "cultural event." I didn't think it was going to be worthy... it was an off-the-cuff thing, and I've been to non-Catholic services before. Then I realized it was being held in a Middle School "Cafe-torium" and went... whoa, this is NOT normal. I enjoyed it, though, and aside from Noll, not a single person said "Catholic? Ohhh... you're one of them." ;)
After church and after adoptive family dinner, I did head over to Gettysburg for a couple hours. I didn't have nearly as much time to wander as I had planned for, but any little bit helps. I really do miss that place, and my heart breaks a little every time I have to leave it. (yeah, sorry Marc, I don't think I'll ever be able to break free entirely) As a whole, Sunday did my heart good and the drive was 100% worth it. I mean, now I know that I get cellular reception INSIDE the mountain tunnels, but not between the mountains.... yeah... Thanks for helping me discover that, Valerie!
Now, if only I could say that work was gping as well. bah.
