45

One of the projects Chad and I worked on over the weekend was moving my bookcases from the baby's room to our bedroom.  As we alphabetized, I sorted out books I didn't want.

I just posted 45 books on paperbackswap.com.  These are books that I didn't particularly like.  You know...Desperation Books that I bought in a moment of "Oh Lord, my favorite ( Read more... )

Neither can I! And all the books that I have kept are books that I read and re-read. :D

It's the one thing that everyone told me would disappear after I had kids. "They" told me that I wouldn't have time any longer and that reading would be a thing of the past. Yeah right! I read books the first week I was home with Joseph. I sat with him cradled against my chest, sleeping, while I devoured book after book.

I know it'll be a bit more difficult after having a second child, but I'm not worried. When you love something you find the time.

That article just made me sad. And I'm a little frightened to realize that I'm basically in tune with an 80-year-old woman! LOL

I used to take my books to Nan's in Grover, but after moving to North County, couldn't find a good used book store. The one in Paso is owned by an old guy who doesn't realize that he shouldn't smoke indoors. Nothing grosser than a book that's been sitting in a smokey room.

I do check books out from the library, but usually they're the type of book I'm not sure I'm going to like or are only available in hardcover.

Hmm... we were probably required to read at least 30 books in high school, maybe more. I read a ton as a child, tapered off some in high school and picked it back up in college. Not so much in the past few years but I'm getting back into it again. It's great losing yourself in a book for awhile!

That's what I'm saying. High School alone would account for 45 books, not to mention Jr. High.

not impossible. I'm embarassed to say my husband is on that list. He's read three books since we were together all of which I bought him and most of which related to Family Guy or Beavis and Butthead.

My collection probably numbers the same as yours. We are obsessed.

But he's had to have read more than 45 books in his LIFE.

Chad's not a huge reader. I think he's read three books this year. Which is actually annoying since I don't think you can really get into and enjoy a good book if you don't devote more than five minutes at a time to the endevour.

I told Chad that finding a book for someone is a lot like finding a good wine. The trick is to understand their tastes and then go from there, helping them branch out a bit each time you loan a book.

And the person you're getting the book for needs to trust you enough to read said book. I've been trying to get Chad to read "Angels and Demons" for years. He's resistant, but doesn't realize that with his analytical mind, impatience with wordiness, and conspiracy theory hobby, it's the perfect book.

No...not obsessed. Well read. :D
