H: Do you prefer live-action fandoms or animated fandoms?
The anime fan in me is weeping right now.
Honestly, I do prefer the animated or written fandoms over live action. Movies like the Avengers do stir my imagination somewhat, but the moment I start envisioning the actors in their character roles it loses a lot of the charm for me. Part of it is the dividing line between what’s ok in reality versus fantasy, and part of it is that real life people don’t interest me at all, and in some cases repulse me. That would be my asexuality talking, I think.
Animated characters aren’t someone you might have to look in the eye one day, so it’s a lot more comfortable to explore them and their world. More so, when I envision crossovers of a live-action with an animated story, it’s easier as well to separate the actors from the story since you’re also dealing with the non-reality of the animated characters. Stories like Harry Potter, even though they have live-action movies, don’t bother me because I reject the movies with every fiber of my being. Seriously, they bug me to an unholy level, and the actors are as far from my vision of the characters to make no never mind.
The point is, I need that level of separation to really enjoy a fandom.
