Fan Plus Friend Coat Review!

Nov 25, 2008 23:53

I finally got my Fan Plus Friend winter coat like a week ago!
I have to say that I am very pleased with it. It pretty much turned out exactly how I described to them. I would say its well worth the money and its very warm just what I need for the wonderfully frigged Chicago winters. I got it just in time too. Its just starting to get pretty cold here.

I ordered a custom winter coat from Fan plus Friend. Its pretty much a replica of this Mary Magdalene coat:

except the fur and bows are black

As soon as I got the e-mail from my building that I got a package I ran down to the front desk to get it. I was thinking it was going to be in a box, but it was in a packet. I was like.. O_O is my coat really in here. lol

my very folded up coat

my coat un-folded. i am very pleased with it. I was worried the colors were going to look bad or cheap, but I think the dark red and black look nice.

close up view and more truer color

back view... please ignore my messy shoes. lol

close up. i'm not too fond of the cord they used, but its better then shiney ribbon.

i do like how they did the loops for the corset part instead of grommets like they have on most of their coats.

the tag with funny english on it.

close up of the pocket. i'm slightly worried about the lace. it looks like they dyed white lace red. i really hope it doesn't bleed if it gets wet. i have seen this happen with rebecca's evil coat. ><;

the lining. its very nice and silky. feels good on the skin.

the structure of the collar. its pretty ingenious. just buttoned on with elastic loops. its pretty secure.

detached collar.

with out fur sleeve.

buttons on the inside.

the coat being worn. god my camera sucks and i know its not being worn in a very lolita way, but this is how i wear it most days sans the bow. lol

close up... jesus my mirror is dirty. i dont really like the bow because its made of satin. its not that bad but kinda shiney for my taste. i should have made the preference for velvet. doh

glam shot. lol i'm very pleased that it matches my hat pretty well. a person in my class told me i match so well its kinda frightening. lol i guess that was a compliment?

My only gripes are that the sleeves with out the fur cuffs are kinda short, but I think that happened on my part. I was told they always make sloth like sleeves, so I took a couple inches off the arm length measurement. They actually made the sleeves right this time. Its not a big deal though my gloves cover the gap.

Also, There was a lot of basting stitches still left in my garment. I had to go through and clean all the basting up before I wore it. Its a nice sign that it was made by hand. This was also not a big deal since I have my handy seam ripper.

Another complaint is that the buttons aren't sewed on very securely. One of them fell off after I tired it on. lol This is also ok because I am capable of resewing buttons on. They are all nice and secure now.

Things I am happy about though are that the pockets are very nice and deep. I can keep my cell phone, wallet and keys in one pocket. Also, the construction is very nice, professional, and sturdy. I am very pleased with how accurate they got to the original.

Another thing, the length is perfect. I also heard they make things very long. So, I told them I was 5 foot tall when I'm really 5'3". It worked out pretty good. The fit is pretty much perfect too. Make sure to take really good measurements when making custom orders.

I have to say over all I am very impressed with Fan Plus Friend and pleased with the results of my custom order. I love this coat and I hope that it will last me quite a while. It wound up costing me $250 which is average for most of their coats. Its a lot better then the $500 for the original thats sold out anyway.

but yes, any opinions of how it turned out?
