I went to donate blood today, although right away I should have guessed that it wasn't going to be my day, since I was running about ten minutes late, and missed my appointment time. That's rarely a problem for the blood center, but it makes me feel guilty. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't able to donate today, as the needle that they inserted had been readjusted right away and they nicked the edge of the vein, causing my arm to bruise up pretty well, and they needed to remove the needle so it didn't get any worse. Then they tried to find a usable vein on my other arm, but apparently it's even thinner and in an awkward position, so I wasn't able to donate at all. It was a bit depressing, and now I have this nicely purple inner elbow, which is also a bit annoying!
Then I got to go to work, and was working alone for three of the four hours, which I was a little worried about since my arm was now quite sore and I had to move piles of books the entire time. Luckily, it was a relatively quiet afternoon in the library, so there wasn't a lot of things that I had to be moving, and I could take my time and move things only a few items at a time.
Still, my parents treated me to a Cousin's sub, one of my favorites, for dinner, and I managed to finish the remaining episode of Stargate SG-1 on the DVD that I had to return to the library today with plenty of time left. Actually, I had another favorite food for lunch, too: grilled cheese sandwiches. So I guess it wasn't a terrible day ... if only my arm wasn't so sore!
