Gossip Girl (s3ep18): The Unblairable Lightness of Being - ***

This week on Gossip Girl, Chuck hosts a traditional wedding for Dorota, and he and Blair participate in the ceremony. Meanwhile, Serena lies to Nate and meets with Carter; and Rufus realizes Lily hasn’t been truthful about where she’s been.

Life Unexpected (s1ep13): Love Unexpected

Lux: This is that episode and it’s that day, finally Lux’s adoption day. Cate and Baze have shown up at the courthouse to sign the papers to fully adopt Lux. And they’re looking like a cute family unit. Especially when Baze loops his hand into Cate’s while in the moment. Clearly, his feelings are getting the best of him these days.

Cate and Ryan: But it’s also almost Cate and Ryan’s wedding day. Things are going great as they make preparations and do a dress rehearsal, barring a few, uh, issues:

Ryan: Now your mom is putting the moves on my dad. I’d say we’re two martinis away from a really awkward situation. And a vital shuffling of the seating chart.

Plus another problem, the radio station also wants them to commit, and sign a five year contract for their radio show. Ryan is reluctant, and for Cate this is where the second guessing about their relationship begins. She wonders why Ryan is so ready to commit to her, but not to them. Is there a difference and is she right to wonder?

My idea is that he isn’t ready to marry her anymore. Too many things have changed since the series started, and even though he’s back with Cate, they need more time before getting married. Instead, both of them are overcompensating with the wedding to hide all their uncertainties.

Ryan and Lux: Lux is also having some uncertainties about her mother marrying Ryan ever since she found out about Baze’s feelings towards Cate. She’s avoiding Ryan and giving him looks, basically treating him like an outsider. After all Ryan’s done for her, too. Ryan definitely notices the change in their relationship and puts it all together.

Ryan: You guys are a family - whether Cate and I get married or not.

Ryan: You’ve been spending so much time trying to be the parent. But you wanting them to be together maybe means for the very first time that you learned to be the kid… their kid.

Baze and Dad: My favorite storyline of the episode though was the troubled relationship between Baze and his dad. His father comes by the bar to get the rent and berates him on everything as usual. Later, Baze goes to see his father to work things out, and also confide in him on what to do about Cate. But his father doesn’t give him the time of day and Baze finally let’s his emotions go:

Baze: It’s no wonder that I can’t tell her that I love because I have never heard from the one person I’m supposed to hear it from.

But in a beautiful scene at the end of the episode, thanks show for making my cry again, they talk, work things out, and Baze cries on his dad’s shoulder. His father gives him some advice.

Baze’s father: Tell her you love her.

Cate and Baze: Baze is so conflicted on what to do about Cate all episode. After hearing from Lux about Baze has feelings for her, Cate goes to Baze and asks him if it’s true, but he denies it and makes her feel worse about caring and going to see him.

After talking with Ryan, Lux convinces Cate to stay with Ryan and that Baze will never change. Later, Baze confides in Math who tells him to let Cate go with Ryan:

Math: If you love Cate, let her be happy.

And so he does, until his father comes and visits him and tells him to not miss out on telling Cate he loves her. Baze goes to the wedding to stop Cate from marrying Ryan, but the ceremony is pretty much complete. Cate sees Baze at the door, but decides to stay with Ryan by giving him a kiss and sealing the wedding. Are you happy with how things turned out?

Gossip Girl (s3ep18): The Unblairable Lightness of Being

Dorota: Dorota decides to get married before her parents come and find out she’s also pregnant. The happy couple ask Chuck and Blair, the currently unhappy couple, to be the best man and maid of honor. Blair can’t help but agree. Chuck can’t help but think this is going to get Blair back on his good side.

Eric: Eric plans a meeting with his new male friendly who never shows, and poor thing thinks he’s been . That is until the guy shows up at the wedding, with his girlfriend. But wait, he’s still interested in Eric. So, he’s bi then? Hell, Elliot is even getting in good with Dorota:

Elliot: I love Dorota. We’re tight now. We talked about The Vampire Diaries in the elevator on Friday.

Dan: Vanessa is mysteriously MIA and I really don’t miss her.

Rufus: Rufus finally finds out Lily is not with her mother and she tells him Lily will have to explain everything to him.

Chuck and Blair: Oh, Chuck and Blair. Blair really tries to get past what Chuck did to her with Uncle Jack, but did Chuck even really apologize for anything? In the end, Blair just can’t do it and has to tell Dorota they can’t be in the wedding party as it’d be a curse on the wedding to have an unhappy couple.

Chuck: I love you. Saying it was hard, but I did and I’ve never looked back.

Blair: I don’t like who I’ve become with you.

Chuck: Wait, Blair, don’t bail on me, we have to see this through to the end.

Blair: This is the end, Chuck.

Nate and Jenny and Serena: Carter is back and helping Serena with finding her dad, only problem is she’s keeping this news from Nate. That is, until Jenny finds out about it and let’s Nate in on the secret. I don’t like this Jenny, she’s got it coming to her if she thinks this will get her with Nate. Serena is then forced to admit to Nate how she was embarrassed to tell him she’s still looking for her dad and Carter is helping her locate him. She promises to not keep anything from him anymore, but this doesn’t stop her from going to Florida to find her dad…and finds her mom there in the process.
