Free?

Free speech. All for it. But lets face it, there ARE limits. The old "you can't yell 'FIRE!' in a movie theater unless there really IS a fire", makes perfect sense to everyone, regardless of their IQ level.

Now we are faced with the fucktards from WBC who believe that their god is pissed off with America becoming too "gay-friendly". And because of that, their god is killing our soldiers.

Can anyone honestly find a way to explain why this would be 'okay'??

One of my favorite movies of all time is one that glorifies most of what I have an issue with when it comes to being too 'PC' (crazy, I know). In the movie, the president makes a speach where he talks about the importance of free speach....
"You want free speech? Let's see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who's standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country can't just be a flag; the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then, you can stand up and sing about the 'land of the free'".
Being able to do so, IS what free speach is all about. However....

Every ounce of my being tells me that it should not be 'okay' for someone to attend the funeral of a fallen American soldier while carrying signs that state your joy over the fact that this soldier is dead.

It warmed my heart to hear that members of the Supreme Court appeared to agree that this practice of the WBC's is wrong. Now we have to wait and see.

But something that really has me ready to "go postal" is that the media (including the AP) is defending the WBC's "right" to protest funerals because they fear doing otherwise would somehow lessen their right to free speech. I actually heard some idiot on the news tonight talking about how "boring" news reports would become if they were unable to report certain issues.
I'm not sure why their reporting would be effected if people were not being allowed to protest the funerals of soldiers, unless what they are really talking about is the shock factor they would lose by not having the opportunity to report on the fucktards from the WBC.

Someone smarter than me probably has the answers to all of this. But all I can say is that I hope the SC finds in favor of that soldier's family, and that the WBC has to go looking for some other way to keep themselves busy doing 'god's work'.

In the meantime, I will join with anyone willing to stand between the WBC assholes and the families of fallen soldiers.
Bring a large American flag. Sing the National Anthem at the top of your lungs, and let that family know that you and your family are deeply grateful for their sacrifice, and that we understand that Freedom is not Free.

Hail the Einharjar!
