Sad ending
Mark "The Bird" Fidrych was killed today. He was 54. Apparently his pickup truck fell on him when he was working on it.
Fidrych lived here in Mass, and was quite a character when he played ball. He probably would have chocked up some pretty good stats as a pitcher if it wasn't for injuries. Nobody put on a show on the mound like this guy, and it had nothing to do with throwing the ball.
