Food Vouchers
In the last week or so….seeing as how I’m his ‘expert’ in these things, Rent Guy has asked me if there are any places that do Food Vouchers for this area….
I told him that I tried finding just such a place last year some time, by going to the local Salvos in Sunshine, who then told me to go to a place called Sashes, which is part of the Salvos as well….with Sashes though, you have to make a booking, you can’t just walk in, which I only found out when I went to see them on that particular day
Being used to just being able to drop in, and get assessed or whatever as needed, I didn’t stick around and haven’t been back since
Plus, I’m only in Sunshine when I need to be anyway
So….
The next day, I sent an E-Mail to my Case Manager, to see if she knew of anything….she didn’t, but suggested I try Foodbank, which, in their FAQ, suggested I try my Local Council, so I sent them an E-Mail as well and their Customer Service Officer sent me what info she had, which I then sent on to my Case Manager, and also Rent Guy
However….
Rent Guy doesn’t seem to actually want to go in to see people like this….
Case in point, he actually asked me, if he gave me his ID, could I go in to Centrelink and Apply on his behalf??
Anyway….
Rent Guy is (apparently) wanting a place that does Food Vouchers, but one that will just post them out to him
Failing that, he’s wanting a place that will deliver Food Parcels out to him….ala Meals on Wheels or similar
Clearly not understanding the very simple concept that, for them to do so, he would still have to actually get up :-/
Or even thinking of that, quite frankly
Anyway….I’ve given him the info I found at the time….I’ve since found some more, and have sent that on to my Case Manager as well, but not yet done so to Rent Guy, and may not even do so, as, if he won’t make use of what I’ve already given him, I’d probably be wasting my time giving him more, right??
Oh well….the last bit of info I found appears to be available in a Booklet, so next time I’m in the area of the Council Office, I’ll see if I can grab a few of them, or failing that, see if I can get a few posted out, so that he’s at least got the option of taking notice of them then
