Genealogical Holy Grail

Well, I'm continuing to do relatively well with this Book that I'm Transcribing....

Yesterday I managed to do Page #48, which means that I've done up to the 20% Mark, or, 1/5, if you prefer :-)

I also got a Message from my Sister, who had seen my Post in Facebook about my doing this, and she mentioned that she's getting some kind of Printer/Scanner in the next week or so that can supposedly do Plain Text even if it's from a Photo

She got me to send her a Sample Photo so that she could then send it to the Company in question (where she'll be getting this thing from), and they'll then test it there

Well, if it works as well as she's saying, that would save me quite a lot of work with this, and will no doubt come in useful for other stuff as well :-D

I'd still most likely have to Format it to match what I've done so far, but yeah, it should do well :-)

Guess I'll find that out when she gets a response from the Company in question, or when she actually gets this thing and does her own testing then :-)

If it doesn't do what she's saying, no biggy, I'll just keep going the way I am :-)

Much as it's taking me some time to do....it's effectively gotten to the stage now where I look forward to working on it

Most of it is in English, and is thus pretty straight forward in that respect, but, some of it is in Welsh and Latin, which makes it kinda 'fun' at times

In that regard, there are a few 'Special Characters' that I've found along the way....

Most of which I've been able to find in the 'Insert Character' Option in WORD, but, there have been a couple so far that I haven't been able to find, so, I either try and find the closest, or, don't bother with it at all....especially if it's for a Welsh word which has a Translation in the same sentence

If it's just the Welsh word, then like I said, I try and find the Character in question or the closest I can, as I want this Book to stay as close to what I'm Transcribing from as possible....allowing of course for a couple of minor Formatting Changes along the way :-)

When it's done, it will be something to be proud of....and not just for the fact that I've been able to do something like that

This is a History Book for my Family, and I've already learned a few things about my Ancestry that I otherwise would not have known

I look forward to learning more as I go on :-)
