I really think Sweeney Todd is one of the sexiest characters in the musical or operatic repertoire.
Which leads me to my little game!
List the roles you have already performed but are desperate to perform again. Why are you desperate? Is your technique better? Are you older and wiser? Do you understand the character more? Did you see a production that helped you understand the character more? Did you watch a copy of the performance YOU were in and rather than throw yourself off of a bridge, you'd like a second chance please? etc.
List the roles you are desperate to perform which you haven't already done. These are the roles that your voice, as it is today, would be suitable for. Why do you want to do it? Do you connect with the character? Do you wish someone would perform the character the way you think it should be performed and therefore want to reintroduce the character to the operatic/musical world? Do you just plane old want to sing the shit out of a particular aria, duet, trio, etc?
I'm off to put the baby girl to bed and pass out myself so I will be answering these questions probably tomorrow night. That's when the ball and chain gets home from DC and I can hand over the baby girl and relax. But I've been meaning to put up these questions for a while and am just now getting around to doing it.
