It's that time of year!!!!
I'm easy to please. Honestly. Give me baked goods in a decorated tin and I will love you for eternity. Mostly because I'm not a baker. I wish to God I was. I found this blog that I'm obsessed with by these two quirky girls who bake. And then they take beautiful pictures of their baked treats. And one of them has the letters B A K E tattooed on the knuckles of her right hand and I just think that's the most brilliant tattoo ever.
But I wish for some things this year.
A gift card to dunkin donuts. My wonderful mommy friend gets a $100 starbucks card from her mama every Christmas and I covet it. When I was little I used to get a $100 dollar gift certificate to the book store up the street. It was owned by a blind woman. Her young daughters always ran the register but she always knew who I was and what types of books I read (Horror mostly back then. And she loved horror too so we bonded). And this was in the days before gift cards so it was an actual card like a folded card with the store name on the front and they just subtracted from the $100 each time I went in. I still have all of them with all of the new totals written down. I wonder where that sweet woman is now.
Getting off subject here..
I love Dunkin Donuts coffee with a white hot passion. And I can usually find enough change in my husbands jeans pockets, the washer, the dryer and the couch to get a cup almost every day. I can't help it. So I would like a gift card please. It's just that feeling when you're getting into your car in the morning and you're cold and you want a hot cup of deliciousness and you have that glorious card in your wallet for free coffee!!! Such a great feeling!!
The only other thing I really wish would be under the tree Christmas morning is ANYTHING from www.subversivecrossstitch.com . Seriously any pattern will do.
And that's about it. I can't wait to spend time with my family and my nephew. I can't wait to wear the HORRENDOUS christmas sweaters my sister-in-law and I are going to find or make if we can't find them. Oh yes. Think puffy paints and kittens hanging out of stockings and bells and lights and things that hang off of the sweaters or sweatshirts. And we have to wear them ALL DAY. That's the rule. All Christmas day photographs will show us proudly wearing our magical sweaters. And my mom makes russian tea that warms your soul. And gluten free sausage balls that will make you slap your granny. And she bitches and moans every year about having to decorate but she really loves to do it and we all squee when we see the house filled with greenery and santas and nutcrackers and twinkling lights and real holly and the tree covered in ornaments we made in sunday school 25 years ago. This year, in light of the current economic state and my parents retirements steadily on the decline, we've decided to draw names so even my present purchasing stress is minimal! But she's still doing our stockings. Which they hide on Christmas morning. And my brother and I will say "WHERE ARE THE STOCKINGS?!" and my mom and dad will say "OH! We must have forgotten the stockings this year" and then we run off through the house to find them. And I'm 30 and my brother is a 34 year old attorney. LOL And then we have a giant breakfast and drink mimosas and bloody marys and tell stories and laugh and it's the most amazing time.
YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!! I can't wait!!!
