Decided that I would go ahead and count the Norwescon Monster Mash in my numerations thereof. Even though it wasn't a party at my house, it was still a party experience where monsters were made, just much much bigger! As such, today marked the sixth Monster Mash held. Still a small group, just three of us, which in some ways is just perfect and in some ways makes me kinda sad. I guess monster making isn't for everybody, but I'm still surprised that more people aren't interested in doing it because it is DAMN fun. :-)
Ah well. Perhaps next time I will invite people on the
norwescon and see if there are neat new people to be friends with through that. Hmmmmm.
The magnificent marzipan_pig once again amazed and astonished us all with her clever creations. I am in awe of her wonderous works! I really really really love the monsters that
marzipan_pig makes. They are just all so very wonderful and amazing and wow. She generally just gives them away too, which I would find very hard to do! Perhaps one of these days I should be bold and ask her for one for myself! :-)
In no particular order we have .... Psycho Puppy! C'est que ce?? He doesn't really look all that amazing, but he's the second in the Demented Dog series. Timmy's Down the Well and Off His Meds was the first one. These are dogs that have disturbing voice boxes placed inside of them. So here P-Puppy is gnawing on a ballerina leg and when you squeeze him he laughs uncontrollably and then declares, "Ahoy, maties!!" *shudder*
Pineapple Pig (aka SuperPig!) was a total dark horse. Started off as a disturbing pig with underwear and ballerina legs, then he gained a pineapple outfit, and then wings and, well, you can see the magnificence that he has become. I'm glad that marzipan_pig is keeping this one. He is best viewed from the air, so she'll likely be dangling him from the ceiling, ready to grant the wishes of all who ask! But if for some crazy reason marzipan_pig changes her mind and decides to give him up, she should totally give him to me! ;-)
A Bear in Goat's Clothing doesn't look like much on the surface, but sometimes simple and sweet is the way to go! He really is wearing the clothes of a goat that marzipan_pig used earlier today and he looked so adorable in that outfit that all he needed was some wings and a heart. Total cutie pie!
Another amazing creation, one of her best I would say, is Goat Girl. One thing I have to say for marzipan_pig (and Goat Girl!) is that she really knows how to accessorize! Yowza! The flowers were already part of the goat animal, but the rest is pure marzipan_pig goodness! :-)
Glenn is still a fledgling Monster Maker, but he's starting to really get into the groove now! I call his first monster of the day Five Heads are Better Than One, or Upper Management. It's all heads ... even the feet are bear heads, cause he's got bear feet. Get it? Okay, the pun was Glenn's not mine, I'm just passing it along. ;-) I love love love the little tiger head. I tried to trick him out of it but he was onto my little scam. Damn.
The next fellow he called Bad Date Guy, but I called him Mr. Wrong. *shudder*
Today I was uncommonly lucky and got hit with the inspiration stick right off the bat. I managed to make four monsters, which is quite a few for me, two of which I really love. Yay! My second monster and favorite of the day is this guy, who I've named Emperor Kotamundi! I was just really pleased and excited by the perfect color coordination of him and in person he is just obscenely cute and perky! I <3 Emperor Kotamundi. I call him Kota for short. ;-)
marzipan_pig always brings me wonderful treasures to work with, and this time was no exception. The result is Scardino! Part Scorpion (specifically made for Scorpio), part Cardinal! I'm still struggling a bit with the name ... Scardino is the best amalgamation that I've been able to come up with so far, but it is late and I am tired. ;-) The two parts just came together so perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased. :-)
The last two are my least favorite. The first one of the day just came together a bit too easily and doesn't feel very monster like to me. I waffle between calling him the Frog Fairy and the Green Fairy (a la Absinthe - he looks kinda drunk). I think the fact that he looks too much like a frog still is the part that is bugging me. Perhaps he will get altered over time.
This fellow I keep waffling on. Sometimes I like him and other times I don't. I think I had such high expectations while I was making him that he just didn't really have a chance of pleasing me in the end. He's kinda part eel, part lizard. Doesn't really have a name yet. Suggestions?
I'll probably have another Monster Mash in September if people are interested!
