How to braid a woven wrap ... my way, anyway

May 31, 2012 15:35

I have this 100% cotton woven wrap from Storchenwiege (http://www.storchenwiege.com/) in 'Organic Louise Turquoise'. (Lucky for me, I got this beauty from a local webstore: http://www.abernathynaturals.ca/). It is 4.6m in length (15 feet 17⁄64 inch...roughly) and 67cm (26 inches) in width. If you have a shorter wrap, please comment below and let me know if this worked for you. Or you can show me how you do it differently.

Twist the fabric from one end to the other.

Loop the twisted fabric like a backwards "S" shape:

Gather the two middle 'strands':

Grab either the right of left 'strand', and lay it over the middle gathered 'strand':

And then the other side, as well - laying it over the middle gathered strand:

Now you can begin your braiding, inwards:

Always wrapping each side strand, one after the other, behind the middle strand.

Once you get to the end of your wrap, it will have the middle gathered strands' loop, one long end, and one short:

With the longer end strand, twist it:

With the shorter end strand,

Tuck under the longer twisted strand, and the longer twisted strand loop around the end gathered strands:

Behold!! Your braided woven wrap.

Thanks to the lopped gathered end, you may hang it wherever you desire in your home.

Thank you for reading my tutorial on how to braid a woven wrap.
Cheers!
