all change

thank you to those of you who got in touch regarding my nephew, be it by comment or phone.

going to see him helped a great deal to bring things back from the drama-horror of early last week. the situation is still incredibly serious, but the panic-flap created by receiving short texts (in place of full information) has been removed.

they've been to birmingham, had some biopsies and scans done and have been allowed home to wait for the results. the new plan is that he'll have his chemo at the childrens hospital nearer to where they live.

he's so far unaware of how serious it could be as both his parents and the specialist think it best to tell him when they ~know~ what it is, especially as they've been wrong once and changed their minds about what they think is it once since then too *sigh*. he's not stupid though, and a hospital full of kids with no hair is a bit of a giveaway...

if anyone's had experience of kids in hospital, can you give me some suggestions for stuff for him to do? he's 8. or perhaps what the limits of attention span, concentration, how bored you get while enduring chemo are (looking at you tim!)? we thought of audio books and model kits so far...
