Drabble - Forsaken

A myriad of stars bejewelled the tranquil sea. Bedazzled, the lone boatman gazed into their starry depths. Did he too feel the beckoning of the silent sky, mirrored in the divine curtain fallen between them? Or feel the pull on his missing heart?

“Fair winds and a following sea, and a shining star to guide me. True love will await for me, if ever I ( Read more... )

I love that last line ... it could mean Will, could be Hades, who knows?

You guys are good at double meanings and obscured meanings. Makes for a brain-teasing read.

We haven't set out to intentionally be obscure in our writing, or even obtuse. We just have brains that see imagery the same...

Thanks for reading.

Thank you so much. I love the drabble format, it demands each word to have impact. Glad it worked for you.

Ah, is Jack on that same starry sea we saw in AWE? (That's one of my favourite shots in any film, ever. CGI or not, it's simply lovely).

I've got this lovely image in my head now, of the sea as the surface of a mirror, and the veil between worlds, with Jack on one side and Will on the other, in symmetry with one another. It's a little like seeing Narcissus gazing into the pool, longing for The Other (though without the negative connotations ;P).

As above; so below. Y? Y. *g*

Beautiful.

Yes. You understand! That is exactly the imagery I was trying to convey. It is not always easy to do, in words alone. So yes! I am thrilled you see what was meant to see.

Funny you should mention Narcissus. We were treated to this marvelous painting when we visited Ringling museums last month.
