I've finally figured it out! (or why Stayfit is as slow as a snail)

BY GEORGE, I THINK I'VE GOT IT! I FINALLY UNDERSTAND WHY KOREAN GROUPS TAKE THEIR JAPANESE DEBUTS SERIOUSLY AND PUT OUT GREAT STUFF o A o

Okay, I didn't word that right. What I mean: I finally understand why (the few Korean groups that do) they release so much original content and promote properly!

U-KISS is a Korean group that does this. And I mention this in particular because I recently showed my other younger sister U-KISS and she thought they were a Japanese group o: I told her they weren't and she was floored lol She listened to some of their Korean stuff and decided she preferred thinking of them as Japanese.

Anyway, there are certain groups that start from zero when they debut somewhere else and certain groups that recycle their hits and hope for the best.

I'm going to use 2 groups as examples: U-KISS and Shoujo Jidai (or SNSD)

U-KISS debuted in Japan with an original song, Tick Tack (the title still cracks me up), and then proceeded to release a few more original singles. Their first album contained Japanese versions of some of their more well known Korean songs, and they sang them at concerts and stuff but they didn't focus on those. I think member AJ himself stated they wanted to be considered a Japanese group long after the k-pop fad in Japan faded (he said it in some interview..I think on their show My Story? Don't quote me!) And they went about it in a great way. I appreciate that they have 2 completely different discographies <3

Shoujo Jidai on the other hand played their debut safe. They started with one of their hits (Gee or Genie, I can't remember which they released first). Once they cemented their fanbase they started to experiment a little. Not by much, but it was a start. (Their first original Japanese single was a double A-side that contained a Japanese RDR lol)

After that didn't flop they started to become more brave! And I'm SO happy they did. I prefer a lot of their Japanese stuff over their Korean tbh. Shoujo Jidai's first 2 albums were gold! Their second is one of my favourite Japanese albums!

Going back to the point in my title;

Certain groups put so much more into their debuts somewhere else because they have the rookie mindset. They go into it thinking, "Okay, this is the beginning! Let's give this all we got!".

As opposed to others that think, "Okay, we have a fanbase here, let's try to build on that!"

Anyway, I just find these 2 different approaches interesting. And they both obviously work lol

P.S This makes me sound very "Pro-Japan", but I'm not! I swear! There are a lot of Korean artists I enjoy! These 2 in particular just happen to have a bombass* production team behind them in Japan lol

*Yes, I actually said that.
