1. i just realized that there are two kinds of moms in my town. one group has a very strict schedule for their children with regards to sleeping and food. their children always sleep in either cribs or age-appropriate toddler beds. they always eat sitting in high chairs. and they also always bathe after dinner and before bed-time, which is much earlier than the parents' bed-time.

then, there is the dirty hippie group to which i belong whose kids' may or may not nap during the day, and where said nap may occur in the car parked in the dark garage, on the sofa, or on mom's lap while mom is surfing the net. meals or snacks happen when the child expresses hunger and might be eaten sitting on the sofa or on the kitchen counter or may simply be stolen handfuls from the plates of their parents. baths may or may not happen daily, and usually involve playing with toys on the floor of the bathtub while mom takes her own shower and once in a while sprays water and soap in the general direction of said child. bed-time happens when parents go to bed or when the child passes out while nursing on mom's lap who is watching something riveting on the discovery channel.

i just noticed this because i'm trying to figure out a schedule for my mom-and-me pilates and yoga classes and every time i suggest seems to conflict with lunch-time or nap-time or whatever. i had no idea it was so complicated!

2. i tried to write a supportive letter to mayor hickenlooper yesterday, but it was returned as undeliverable. what gives?

3. siris was picked up by the sheriff this morning, who scanned his microchip and brought him back to our house. the officer was really nice and didn't charge k any money to get him back. he also told k that they would help us pay to get siris neutered, which we have been putting off because it costs almost $200 and also because we kind of thought that since he's a purebreed we might want to breed him someday. but k went down to the animal control in granby and paid $50 for a voucher, so the poor little dude has an appointment with the vet on thursday morning.

4. the big ins interview is tomorrow morning in denver at 7:15. that means we have to leave here around 5am to get there on time, possibly earlier. i have all of the proper papers in order. i tried to get some more photos together, but the funny thing is that we don't really have a lot of pictures of us together, other than at our wedding. one of us is always taking pictures of the other with babyspike, i guess. i'll hopefully be back here again with good news.
