This past weekend was spent in Philadelphia, to see the University of Kansas kick Villanova’s ass. Only it didn’t happen that way. KU lost by many, many points. So much for being undefeated and ranked #1. I know all of this because my boyfriend is addicted to KU basketball. The cool thing was we had special box seats, so we basically had our own private bartendress. (ahem, for the not-in-theknow, that's the female form of bartender).
Anyway, we did get a pimping downtown hotel room via Priceline. My boyfriend is 6’4”, and every night we share a regular full-size bed. And the dog sleeps between us. So, yeah, way way cramped sleeping conditions. Our room had a gi-normous king-size bed and a big bathroom. After the game, we came back to our room and couldn't resist sleeping for awhile. We had woken up at 6 a.m. to take the New Jersey train to Philly. So, the beer and the bad game had us tired. We crashed and awoke three hours later to... snow, and more snow, and more fucking snow. So much snow. Inches and feet of snow. I had never seen this much snow... OK I saw 19 inches when I first moved here. It wasn't like that. But it came down so fast. Oy. A real blizzard.
Anyway, we got back to NYC the next day with few issues -- the joy of train-riding! But my car, which was parked on the street as always, was suddenly Mount Honda. I ignored it for two days and took the train to work (lovely, but costs $20 a day). Boyfriend was kind enough to buy a shovel (did you know the make special snow shovels??) and unearthed my car! Yay! So now I’m back to driving to work in style.
Today it’s about 6 degrees outside, but NO snow. *down on bended knees with clasped hands, thanksing god*
This weekend Dora and I are going to the Norwalk Aquarium, an hour from the City. Sunday boyfriend and I have pledged to thoroughly clean the apartment, which is covered under a layer of dust, salt (from the streets to keep ice from forming and killing all the old frail people), dog hair, Joy hair and General Filth.
Sigh. *Closing eyes, remembering sweet, sweet Mexico and those gorgeous turquoise beaches with warm breezes and cold beer and lime juice and our little hut we slept in*
