Good Day
It's been an awesome day. My friend Josh (drama coach) is moving from the middle school to the high school (same builiding) and that's really exciting. Josh, Alissa and I worked on drama together and had a blast, so I am really excited that he'll be on our schedule now and the three of us can hang out together. Plus, he's going to be teaching yearbook and needs help on the creative end, so he's going to farm out some of the photoshop work and graphic design to my Art II students. That's going to be really cool, because it's what I really wanted -- to provide them with a real-world application for what we're learning in class so they can see what design is all about. It's not just stuff you turn in and get back and throw away -- it ends up in a publication for the world to see.
Annnnnd, the principal is going to try to give the three of us the same prep period so we can work on drama and yearbook more easily. This is awesome! I am so excited. Even if she can't work it out for us to have the same prep, just working together, the three of us, is going to be fun.
The bad news is that we had to cancel art camp. Two more kids dropped out and so that brought us down to just 4 kids in the camp. That's not enough. I dont' get these parents who pay the $300 upfront to put their kids in a camp and then schedule them for something else. Whatever.
The good news is this frees us up to take a trip to Pittsburgh to see the Carnegie Museum and the Warhol Museum. w00t!
Oh, and I made a badass dinner -- Coconut-crusted shrimp with curried peanut sauce. OMG, to die for! I'll post the recipe at my food blog if anyone wants it. Here's a picture.
