What a morning!
I thought I was running early, until I dropped Olivia and Jon off at daycare, at which time I noticed that there was a permission sheet for Olivia's class to go to the library. Oops! I didn't know about it because they must not have put the slip out until yesterday afternoon, and Mike picked the kids up so I could set up the peepshow. So, I had to run home to get her library books.
I was still a little early, believe it or not, so I stopped at McDonalds for breakfast. I was going to go through the lightning-fast drive through, but the McTruck was parked in the McWay, so I went Mcinside. They were McSlow. I was McLate. But now I have Mccaffeine. McYay!
I mounted my artist's statement on museumboard and cut it out. That is a sweet statement, you might say. Forget if it's written well. It looks impressive. *g*
Now I need to start cleaning out my room and trying to figure out what to do with the pitiful supplies I have left at the end of the year. I'm out of almost everything but don't want to buy anything since it's so close to the end of the year. I'm thinking about doing a huge mosaic with crayon stubs. No, seriously, I am! I think it would be sweet! I kind of wonder if my middle schoolers are too wild to get it done.
They did do really well on the last assignment, though. I gave them a copy of Grant Wood's American Gothic and asked them to create a new version that they think symbolizes modern American life. Their versions are really interesting... and a little sad. But I agree with them. We hung them all up and called it "American Gothic 2.0."
Mike took the boys to Kings Island today for Science Day. I hope they are having fun. It's kind of rainy but the rain is supposed to clear up by noon. Hopefully, it will be kind of overcast but warm so they don't get sunburnt. :) I would love to go to that someday -- they use the amusement park rides to teach physics. Isaac and Joseph are both really interested in science and how things work. I think they're going to learn a lot.
