A Taste for Trouble

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Dr Reid Oliver didn't know how this had happened.

Okay, that was a bit of a lie. He knew.

However, that didn't mean he couldn't pretend he didn't.

It was all Luke Snyder's fault anyway.

Because Luke Snyder, quite frankly, was nothing but trouble.

And as long as Reid continued to maintain that point of view, there was no way that he would find himself culpable of anything that had happened last night.

He was only human after all (albeit a brilliant one in comparison to the idiots out there). And Luke Snyder was, without question, one of the most infuriatingly persistent people on the planet. There really was nothing he could have done to stop it.

'You could have not kissed him,' a snide voice in his head mocked.

Correction, Reid countered. He kissed me.

'And I imagine he was the one to shove your hand down his pants? Bit of an impromptu prostrate examination, wasn't it, doctor?'

Reid, who had no prudent answer for this, promptly told his head to shut the hell up before groaning at himself.

'First sign of madness,' the voice sneered mockingly.

He always did say Luke Snyder would eventually drive him insane.

"Mornin'."

Starting at the voice that definitely didn't come from his head, Reid turned to the dishevelled blond beside him who was looking the very definition of sin incarnate.

Hair mussed, lips swollen, bronze chest rising and falling...

Reid swallowed hard.

He couldn't possibly be blamed for this happening. How could anybody conceivably turn that down?

"Hey," Luke Snyder's sleepy voice yawned, stretching so that the scant sheet barely covering his modesty slipped a few inches down.

Reid pretended not to look.

"Mr Snyder," he returned coolly, wincing briefly at the brusque tone of his voice.

Luke didn't seem to notice.

"You're awake," the younger man said with a lazy, rather shagged out smile, the sunlight from the window making his hair and skin glow.

Reid coughed and tried not to think disgustingly poetic sentiments.

"Yes, well..." I was watching you in your sleep all night "... you snore."

"I don't snore!" Luke laughed, his eyes crinkling with that annoyingly infectious grin of his.

And Reid's mouth quirked back before he could stop it.

Curse his traiterous mouth. And curse Luke Snyder for making him behave like a moonbrained teenager.

Reid opened his mouth to try and rectify the situation. It took him a few moments to know what to say.

"Last night was..." Hot. Mind blowing. Perfect. "... interesting."

"Gee thanks," Luke returned good naturedly, turning on his side and propping his elbow on his pillow. "I would have said amazing but 'interesting' is such a great compliment."

Reid bit the inside of his cheek hard but it didn't stop his mouth morphing into a smile.

"Amazing... wouldn't be an overstatement."

"Wow," Luke said impressed, his eyes wide and amused. "I actually managed to amaze the great Dr Oliver."

"Don't get a big head," Reid found himself teasing back without any real venom.

Their glittering eyes locked and Reid thought briefly about how much trouble he had landed himself in as a soft mouth almost inquisitively pressed down on his.

Because Luke Snyder was trouble.

However, as Reid ran his fingers through that sunshine hair, he discovered that maybe this guy was a type of trouble he could happily grow accustomed to.
