Oh my gosh!! You've got such cute kids. Isaac is so smart! Also, wowwww, seeing that second video with Ruthie talking makes me miss having really small kids around. I just love the way they communicate with such a small vocabulary. "More up" just about made my heart melt, LOL.

Because YouTube converts all video to Flash (some quality is always lost in any format conversion) and then reduces the resolution to make the storage space and playback bandwith as small as possible.

You get what you pay for.

Well, I figured something like that, but otoh if I upload it to my website, then no one will watch it because it's too complicated to figure out how to watch an AVI and would take too long to download it. So *shrug* if I want people to actually watch it, I'll take the fuzzies.

How is it, then, that some videos (like for instance the Mean Kitty Song -- go watch that if you never have) come out quite clearly? Do they start out as some humongous resolution, so when YouTube reduces it by 50 percent or whatever there's still plenty of brightness and clarity left?

(I've noticed that a lot of YouTube videos have lost brightness as well as, or even instead of, resolution.)
