bedtime update

Thanks to ww1614 for linking to this great story about a woman who unwittingly became famous for Dixie-Chick-bashing and then saw the error of her ways and became a better person for it. This is a really moving story on so many levels. It's always wonderful to read about people who honestly regret their past actions and take positive steps to redeem themselves. It's awesome that this woman, who a few years ago knew almost nothing about politics or what was going on in the world, got motivated to educate herself and form some actual opinions of her own rather than just going with the crowd. And it's also a great story about a parent who realized how her own baggage was negatively affecting her child, realized that she didn't want to be that kind of parent, and made a change for her child's sake as well as her own.

In short: excellent stuff. Go read it now.

Remember earlier when I said I was stressed because Amazon had shipped my order in three separate boxes? So tonight I get home and there are three Amazon boxes on my porch. I think, "hooray, my whole order!" But no!! One of them was a box of stuff off my wishlist from hawkeye7, who as usual has been far too generous to us. (And according to the packing slip in said box, that too was only part of *his* order! omg!)

So, some lovely unexpected gifts -- THANK YOU! -- and also 2/3 of my order have arrived, which is a good start. I immediately wrapped most of the gifts, not out of any immense degree of organizedness or anything, HA HA, but just to facilitate hiding them from Isaac. ;) Now I can hide them in plain sight! Mwa ha ha.

Also got a start on making Isaac's cards for his teachers, and that's going nicely. We should be able to finish that up tomorrow night, in time for their holiday party on Friday afternoon.

link, plans, politics, what i did today, shout-outs, shopping
