Dear Grace,
Well my darling little girl, you are 6 weeks old today. My, how time flies. I feel like it was just yesterday that we brought you home, 1 day old from the hospital. You were so tiny, so perfect. From the moment I saw you I was so in love. You have the most beautiful little face and there are days when I just stare at you all day long. Everyone comments on your hair, and for good reason. You have tons of it. Your daddy likes to fluff it up when you come out of the bath, and then he calls you "Fluffy Foo". (When you start to fuss a little bit he calls you "Fussy Foo".) I can't wait to get little barrets for your hair. You have big eyes (that are still blue... will they stay blue?) and a little button nose. You're starting to smile with your perfect little lips. You first smiled when you were only a couple of weeks old, actually. Now you smile more often, and you move your mouth and try and talk to us. You're so much fun!
I'm blessed to be able to stay home with you, little one. I sit and nurse you, amazed that my body is still nourishing you, giving you everything you need. One of my favorite things is to sit and nurse you and just stare at your perfect little face, your amazingly chubby cheeks working away. Sometimes you look up and catch me staring and give me this adorable smile that just melts my heart.
You're changing and growing so quickly! You've gained an average of 1/2 a pound a week since you were born. You're filling out- no skinny arms and legs for you! Your little belly sticks out and we call it a puppy belly. So cute. You're about 11 lbs now, and sometimes I just wish you would stop growing so quickly. Part of me wants you to stay my little baby. I can't think about you growing up without getting emotional. Silly mommy. As much as I'd love for you to stay tiny it's so much fun watching you grow and change. You're getting your own personality and it's amazing to see.
I want to thank you for being such a good baby, Gracie! Really, you hardly ever really cry and you actually let mommy sleep most of the time. It still amazes me every single day that you grew inside my tummy. God made you so perfectly, and for 9 months you were in there growing, getting ready to enter this world. My little pumpkin. Me and daddy love you so much. Daddy works a lot right now, and misses you terribly when he's there. He comes home and scoops you right up to spend time with you. One of my favorite things is to see your daddy holding you. He's so in love with his little girl. When you were in my belly daddy would talk to you every day, and from the minute you were born you knew your daddy's voice. He would put his face down near you and talk and you would turn your head and look at him. The first time you did this you were just a few minutes old! You sure do love your daddy.
One of our favorite things to do with you is to slowly spin the ceiling fan. You get so excited and happy! You started watching the fan when you were just a few days old, and now you smile, flail your arms and legs and try to talk. You're so adorable. You love the fan! You also love your swing and bouncy seat. Sometimes when I'm extra tired and just need to get some extra sleep I put you in the swing at night and you will sometimes sleep for 6 hours in there! In the cradle you usually sleep between 4 and 5 hours at a time. You're such a good sleeper!
One of my other favorite things to do is to dress you up in cute outfits. Sometimes I do photo shoots with you and dress you up in little dresses, put you on a blanket and take lots of pictures. You're such a good baby. I spin the fan for you and you smile like crazy!
I wish that time would slow down, just a little. You're growing so fast, and you're doing so great. I'm so proud of you, my little pumpkin.
I love you,
Mommy
