Today I went to book a bus with easyBus for transport from Gatwick to central London. I bought the ticket, got the email confirmation, made a screenshot of the ticket and then saw I booked wrong hour - departure time was only 10 minutes after landing and that's not enough time for me to leave the plane, go through the immigration office, take the transport train from South to North terminal and get on the bus. But that's not such a big issue because if they have free seats on the bus they will let you in, no matter is it the hour you booked or not. But still, it's good to have a guaranteed seat especially if it's a touristic season.
I saw they offer you the change of boarding location so why not hour, too. So I went back to the booking and wanted to change the hour so I clicked Cancel the booking.
WRONG.
No way back, baby.
With only 2 clicks of the mouse I lost both money and the booking. You can't undo the cancellation nor you can get a refund.
I couldn't believe it. I sent an email to their help desk, but with other email account, because I already saved the ticket to my desktop, so that they can't tell by my email (that I used for booking) I cancelled it. You know, I thought they'd be understanding and activate my booking again. But nope. Woman kept asking me what was my email I used for booking and told me that cancellation could not be activated again nor I could get a refund (I knew about refund thing) but I avoided answering email question. So I asked if she could do anything, and that how it's hardly fair to pay for the ticket and not get it. WHY would they have option to cancel the booking when they don't give refunds?? Oh I know, it just serves to fuck up people and give them opportunity to sell that same seat to someone else!!!! That's WHY!!
She asked me again for my email so she can 'assist me further'. Assist with what? She said herself that they don't re-activate the booking nor give refunds. I replied back asking why exactly she needs my email and how can she 'assist me further' on which she replied by pasting me the text from their FAQ, about non-refundable ticket policy and no re-activation policy, bla bla bla. She obviously wanted my email address so she can "black-list" me, so to speak, give my info to the driver, because on my ticket it doesn't say it's cancelled. And when I used their service few weeks ago I know the driver doesn't check a list of passangers, he just checks our tickets, if the date is correct. And as I said, even the hour isn't an issue. But if he has someone "black-listed"
So. Now I'm in a dillema. Should I risk going there with this screenshot ticket (I didn't save it in .pdf, damnit!) and hope the driver doesn't notice, but if he does I don't have a transport. There are always coaches and trains but when you're buying ticket on spot it's usually more expensive than when you book online and in advance.
I just don't want to give them that satisfaction, you know? I know 6 pounds is not much but still!! It's not fair!! And I paid it with my mum's credit card!
I'd say 'Those fucking low-budget companies!!' but they provided me with cheap plane tickets so I can come an visit family and friends here, so how can I complain??!!
I even found cheaper transporation by train, only 3 pounds, which is faster and more comfortable than their minibus. But it's 3 pounds only if I book it online.
So, to book this 3 pounds train or gamble and try to pass with this already paid but cancelled ticket? Her insisting on my email address is still on my mind and it tells me they probably can't stop me from boarding the bus...do you think?
Why do I keep messing up my life with such things? Not to mention how much I get upset over it. I cried over this, because I can't believe myself.
Add that internet traffic affair to this and I'm on a real self-loathing trip. :(
*sigh* I'm sorry for spending my mum's money and being an idiot in general, but I think I'll book the 3 pounds train. It's taking me closer to my final destination, anyway. Damn, I made this decision while I was typing all this. It probably took time for everything to settle down...
Writing is good. :)
